Atticus Snow is among the finest football names I have heard.

The most Ivy football name I’ve ever heard is: Roly Purrington III. He was a ’70s QB, I believe for Penn.

Oops! My mistake, Roly played for Yale from 1970-’72. We often used a wishbone, Dick Jauron was the star RB.

Other QB’s at that time included Joe Massey (1968-70) and Tom Doyle (1972-74).

How about Carter Lord from Harvard who was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys. This wide receiver from Exeter not only had the Ivy name but could really play. Carmen Cozza called him the best end Yale played against during his time.

I’d nominate Chandler Henley III, Captain of the 2006 Team. Game Day was in New Haven for the 2006 Yale-Princeton game. Lee Corso commented on how Ivy League the captain’s name is, then quickly apologized for any offense.

According to 247, Malachi Igharo (one of our two recruits receiving 247 stars) is going to Columbia. If this is true, we may be in big trouble as our competition is no doubt claiming Yale’s floundering w/o its head coach.

We have a huge recruiting weekend upon us and we are desperate for RB, LB and OL commits!

I believe we poached Igharo from Columbia, not the other way around.

Nico is headed on a trip to Alabama…that alone should be enough ammunition to secure a few more recruits.

Van Hopping, RB, 5’ 11, 205, Lake Travis High School, Austin TX. 500lbs squat, 350 lbs bench , 4.55 40.

Eleven Division 1 offers including Navy. Fast and strong, like Tyler Varga.

YALE COMMIT:
VANN HOPPING, RB, LAKE TRAVIS HS, AUSTIN ,TX. 5′ 10″, 210 LBS. 500 LBS. SQUAT; 350 BENCH; 4.55 40 YD DASH.
STATISTICS:
2025 :
220 CARRIES, 1393 YDS., 20 TDS.
28 REC. 200 YDS. 2 TDS.

No idea, but it seems odd to me that nothing has been officially announced publicly; it was just the email from AD Chun to the Football Association. No press release or update to the website. Makes me wonder if they’re waiting for a more permanent announcement that’s yet to come.
Sending positive thoughts to Coach Reno, and Coach McGowan, every day…

What is strange to me is that nothing has leaked. There must be 100 people, maybe more, that know what’s going on and yet it is still being kept amazingly quiet. Kudos to all of them. They should work for the gov’t.

Yale commit::

Elijah Brown, OL 6’4” 265, San Antonio, TX.

Offers from Bucknell, St Thomas, San Diego, Valparaiso, Marist.

Have the winners of the annual awards to players — Offensive/Defensive MVP, numerous other categories, awards named in honor of Bulldogs who died young — been announced at all? Annually they have always been announced along with the naming of next year’s captain. I look forward to them every year. What has happened?

New Yale commit:

Lucas Fikel, RB, 6’0, 210lbs, 4.53 40. Offers from Army and Navy

Senior year stats:

2,074 Rushing yds, 310 carries
31 Rushing TDs, 2 Receiving TDs
167 Receiving yd with 15 attempts

My strong guess is it will be CCSU. They are open again on 10/3. Originally it was announced in July they had that date filled with Delaware St., but that game has now been changed to TB.A. Looks like they are making room to play Yale on Yale’s open date. Game makes perfect sense for both schools.

I’m surprised to see that New Haven just scheduled a game with Austin Peay for that date. If they had gone this long with both Yale and New Haven having an open date on 10/3, it would seem like a no-brainer to make that matchup happen.
You could be right, SoE – CCSU may still be available that day, and there aren’t a lot of other obvious options left.
I remember when non-conference games were scheduled years in advance, sometimes 8-10 years ahead. Now it seems like 8-10 months is more the norm. I suppose if schools weren’t changing conferences every year, and conferences weren’t changing scheduling formats every year, it would be easier.

Another new Yale Commit:

Brennan Wack, RB, 6’0” 200 lbs. Voted Brst RB in West Virginia twice.

Sr. Season:
2061 rush yds (8.0 ypc)
170 rec yds
28 tds
30 tackles(played def 2nd half season)
1 int

Broke school record for career rushing yds and tds
Broke 19 school records overall

YALE COMMIT: BRADEN KNIGHT, QB. 6’3″, 180 LBS. DE LA SALLE HS., CONCORD, CA.
2025 STATISTICS :
ATT- 152, COMP- 89, YDS- 1139, YDS/GAME- 99.4 TDS – 11, INTS- 3

Reloading. Yale lost a lot of QB’s and RB’s to graduation this last Senior class to there will be plenty of opportunities for them all to compete for playing time. They all look solid. Shaping up to be a great class. Would like to see some more LB’s and OL’s to fill it out. Six more slots open by my count.

Penn has their full 27 commits at this point, so Yale is behind pace. Hopefully, Yale can still find five quality recruits after signing day to finish off the class. I’m very pleased with the quality of the recruits they have so far.

The Dartmouth football blog is reporting that to their knowledge Dartmouth also has their full 27 member recruiting class at this point.

Looks like I was wrong in my guess that Yale’s 10/3 open date will be against CCSU as CCSU just announced their final OOC opponent with be South Dakota. Looks like it will be some other NEC team or Merrimack.

Why don’t we just schedule Southern Connecticut State for a near-guaranteed win? The FBS biggies feel no shame in doing that.

Am I craven for wins? You betcha!

I was thinking, how nice it would be to get together with Yale Football Fans to discuss. Yale Football off season, like Hot Stove Yale Football. Breakfast at a diner, or lunch if that would be easier. There’s not to many of us around. But it’s a curse that we all share. If this sounds good to you, reach out and let’s make it happen.
Then afterwards we could share it with people who couldn’t be there. Go Bulldogs

Gentlemen;; this is probably the worst handling of an exit of a coach by an athletic Director in the history of mankind. Making a statement of national search will start immediately instead of installing the defensive coordinator is the head coach is the worst possible mistake.

Has any athletic director ever been hired into a better situation then Vicki? Tony Reno and James Jones did the work and the AD got the reflected glory.
