What a fun season this was. One of the most enjoyable in my lifetime. So close today. Could have easily been a W. Thanks to all the players for a great ride.

Montana State fan/alum here. Your boys were impressive. Great fans that made the trip…Great team. You gave us fits…We were lucking we had you at home. Glad the Ivy has joined the party.

Agreed. Best season in the 50 years I’ve been following Yale football. And to think some people didn’t want FCS playoff participation.

Congratulations to Yale Football, you did a wonderful job. In letting people know across this country . That Yale Is Here and WILL only get better.!! Thank you very much and I’m already looking forward to see what you will do next year. !! GO BULLDOGS.!!
Please upgrade the schedule, start the season sooner, add a game.!! Please!!

Yale outplayed MSU in virtually every statistic except turnovers. The two interceptions by Yale were the difference. So close, but a great effort.

Gentlemen; my hats off to our squad for a splendid season and exciting run in the playoffs. Our squad improved every game from the Indian clash to the final contest with possibly the exception of the tiger encounter which resulted in a gutted victory testament to our squad. To the seniors thank you for your contributions over the past four years and best of luck to you in all of your future endeavors. I do believe Mr. Kamara will be our next captain. He has a tough act to follow in Mr. Pitsenberger a total class act and terrific player.

What a disappointment. This entire season has felt like one long charade, and everyone could see it unfolding. Coach Reno has clearly been struggling for a while, and the product on the field reflected that. The decisions made under his watch were nothing short of baffling. Dante was never truly QB1—everyone saw the nepotism. Watching that play out was embarrassing for the program.

And let’s be honest: doing your job in the last few games isn’t some grand accomplishment. It’s what should’ve been happening from the start.

The real heartbreak is for the seniors—my nephew included—who were robbed of the football experience they deserved. They gave everything, and the program didn’t hold up its end. Coach Reno should feel accountable for how badly this was mishandled… though I’m not sure he even realizes the impact his decisions had on these boys.

The most heartless post I have seen here. They just did something no other Yale team had ever done and may not ever do again and your upset because your nephew didn’t play? You should be ashamed.

Katie Durso, shut up.!! Look at your elbow.? Now SIT DOWN.!! That’s your ASS.!! Try not to talk through it.
This was one of The most successful 4 year tenure in along time. For any class .!!

A simple google search would suffice. Here’s a quote from one article:

“As a high schooler, Reno played his sophomore and junior seasons at the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Conn., before moving on to the Cheshire Academy, where he picked up over 30 Division I Power 4 offers as an All-American.

In 2022, the scouting analyst Gabe Brooks with 247 Sports wrote that Reno had a “strong arm with quick release” and was capable of “accurate throwing on the move.”

Ranked the 36th-best signal caller in his high school class, he chose to play in the SEC at South Carolina. A year later, as a high-three-star recruit in the portal, Reno shook things up when he decided to play in the Ivy League. Reno is the highest-ranked incoming Ivy League transfer of 2025.”

Or you can just peruse Yale’s statistics and look at the QB ratings for the three Yale QB’s with stats. Spoiler alert, Reno has the highest rating.

By the way, speaking of QB’s, Grant Jordan is entering the transfer portal. Still has a year of eligibility.

There were people who felt QB Griffin O’Connor was mistreated when he was benched mid season 2021 in favor of Qb Nolan Grooms. All Grooms did was go on to win two back to back Bushnell Cup Awards and two Ivy championships the flowering two years. Those results justified Reno’s decision as this year’s results support Tony Reno’s decision to start Dante at QB. When the results are on the coach’s side, it’s just sour grapes to complain.

Perhaps that’s a leadership problem, because there was a QB1 and a QB2 prior to Dante. Or else we wouldn’t have a team.

Got it. Stand by that, he wouldn’t have seen the field in South Carolina. Josh is a beast. He was a gift to Reno.

Really? Please name the high school team that could make it to the 2nd round of the FCS playoffs and could play the #2 seed to within one score. You obviously know very little about football.

How about Nick Gargiulo who transferred to SC from Yale just a couple of years ago. This Yale team also has plenty of talent that will goin on to play at the power 4 level and the nfl. Yale has had many recent players on power 4 teams.

Joshua Tarver plans to enter the transfer portal as a December graduate transfer with one year of eligibility remaining.

I know a lot is happening, but any news on incoming Yale Football commits for the upcoming season.?
Also the Yale men’s basketball team has a 18 day break and has a 10-1 record to date, then play Alabama on 29th .

Have to weigh in here and honestly appreciate the passion. A few things.
1. 7 and 4 would start for half the teams in FBS.
2. Conceded that Dante has limitations. Mostly he’s not a threat to run and is only ok at escaping pressure, in or out of the pocket. His lack of versatility limits the upside for the offense, and I can’t think of a special Ivy League team that didn’t have a mobile qb, especially in this age of rpo. That said, their season was undeniably special, and the backup qb threw a telegraphed seam route pick in his only throw that mattered this year, albeit after a nice run. So on the whole it’s hard to argue with the results. And I don’t think there’s much evidence that the coaches lost the team – those kids showed the kind of frustration in Bozeman that only comes from kids who believe they should win. That’s pretty awesome, and it doesn’t happen if most of the kids are mad about nepotism.
3) I’ve seen plenty of high school football live full of starred recruits. The Yale varsity would kick the living shit out of them. A team of Yale freshman could lose to a top team sure. But the varsity would wipe the field with them. It would be a joke. And it’s a joke to say otherwise, thoughtless provocation.

Congratulations to our Freshman kicker Noah Piper on being named FCS Central All American as its kicker. . Well done young man.

Mason Shipp will be entering the transfer portal as a graduate transfer (ready to enroll in January) with one year of eligibility remaining.

We were fortunate to have these superb players for the years they were motivated to stay with the Yale program. Particularly Josh Pitsenberger. Let’s hope that Abu stays and leads the team next season as the new captain. There are others that have the ability to test the NIL waters and play at another school so it’s simply not possible to anticipate who will be on the 2026 roster. Except to say the transfer portal will significantly diminish the collective talent that would ordinarily be present.

Yeah I guess we shouldn’t name names. But clearly there are some underclass kids with some tape to share.

On the flip side, I wonder if we could steal some talent ourselves. The academic d3 schools are notoriously weak in the sport, but there has to be some talent – look at Ali Marpet and Richie Hoskins

Pitsenberger has always been great. Loved him as a freshman. Always felt disappointed when he shared the spotlight. Yale hasn’t had another back in my lifetime that gets north and south like he does. So rare to have a kid with that combo of vision, cutting ability and fall-forward power. A lot was put on him this year lord knows we fans were so fortunate he stayed healthy.

Yes that was easy to anticipate. I’m still wondering how his special talents were overlooked for three seasons.

I was thinking that he might have a 5th year of eligibility due to missing lots of time from injuries, and hoped he would utilize it next year. I guess that won’t be happening, unfortunately for us.

Why would Brown even transfer? Might as well try his luck as an undrafted free agent given that he is one of the top graded wideouts on Pro Football Focus.

Pro Football Focus is not a good way to evaluate NFL readiness, as special as Brown has been. Have to imagine the chance to play in a power conference and earn power conference money is a lot more lucrative than taking a chance to be an UDFA.

Yale OT Michael Bennett plans to enter the transfer portal. I’m a little surprised by this. I thought he had the best shot out of Yale’s graduating class of being drafted.

Some of you may remember that Indiana qb and Heisman finalist Fernando Mendoza originally committed to Yale before switching to Cal and then to the Hoosiers.

Abu Kamara was named captain December 7th, so I assume the annual awards given to players were also announced that day. Yet there has been no mention of this at the Y Athletics website, just like (I believe) last year.
It’s a highlight for me to learn which Elis got these annual awards, many of them very long-standing. Like last year… can anyone here list which ’25 Elis won these team awards?

Montana State plays tonight for those interested (me). Will be interesting to see how SFA does in Bozeman compared to our Elis.

In related news, I wanted to point out that, for all the hype, MSU’s Stanford transfer QB was a far cry in mobility from the previous week’s YSU QB. The latter beat our very talented spy #24 to the corner more than once. In contrast our DE was able to string out the MSU kid in a race to the sideline. The MSU qb has had a great year, and he played well enough to win. My point is just that the YSU kid was really special as a runner and helped prepare the Yale D for MSU.

It’s been fun to get this national coverage and analysis. Hence my interest in tonight’s game…

Gentlemen; some interesting comments, generating food for thought. Disappointed to learn Mr. Larry and Mr. Brown will not be coming back and will be difficult to replace. Mr. Rawlings should be our quarterback coach, and possibly the offensive coordinator. It appears we will need at least two incoming freshmen at the signal caller position for the upcoming season.
