Yale 38 Holy Cross 28

A gutsy win against a Holy Cross team that showed tremendous fight. Dante Reno with the game of his career: 30/43, 454yds, 5TD’s. One for the record books!

Right now the Yale passing attack is elite. Santiago and Anderson had 21 receptions between them. If we get the running game going the offense will be unstoppable.

Anderson is very special. Santiago had a heck of a day. The truth is we relied a ton on Pitsenberger last year. At least today it was three guys instead of one. I’m thrilled for Coach Cahill to get a win on the road against a team that has played three strong opponents is an amazing way for him to start his era.

Watched College Football Final, Dante Reno, gotta helmet Sticker for his 454 yards passing and 5 Td’s. Congratulations to him for being recognized. I was disappointed that they didn’t show Santiago’s remarkable one handed 75 yard TD catch.
This game was very slow and frustrating odd game. With it being Holy Cross’s parents weekend. Them giving everyone a participation trophy.to various groups and teams and the chess club programs. Extending the game, the announcers annoying voice.!! .
A win is a win but I was surprised by the defense inability to tackle, they couldn’t wrap up the Holy Cross running backs.
Seems by the end of the 3rd quarter they figured it out. They turned up the intensity started to create pressure on the QB, wrapping up the running backs , containing the action in front to stop the Holy Cross offense.
The offensive line couldn’t open the holes for the running backs. They allowed 3 QB sacks . The repeated runs up the middle were stoned by the Holy Cross DLine. Ostrowsky , has to come up with a better strategy going forward. Pull the guards to create some space for the running backs to have a chance gain yards. I saw if Reno kept the ball . Took it himself and go away from the fray . He would have kept the defense honest. Not let the defense focus on the one dimensional offensive scheme.
Congratulations to Coach Cahill, on his 1st win and to the player’s, coaches, on a job well done. Go Bulldogs

Ken, I agree with you whole-heartedly. I watched the first half of the Dartmouth-Lehigh game, and I was very impressed with Dartmouth. Saunier is one fine QB.

Gentlemen; topsy-turvy opening day, ending with a victory. Room for improvement, probably the understatement of the year with the exception of our split ends. Taking into account. It was the first game, the entire defense seemed a step, slow and tackling, especially the first half not to the level of distinction it needs to be in the future. hopefully the play calling will be more creative. Congratulations to Coach Cahill and the entire team for the win on the road.

Yale had lost 2 of the last 3 to Cornell. They will need a good week of practice to address defensive and run game deficiencies in order to prevail on Saturday. Don’t sleep on Cornell.
