Gentlemen; probably the most ugly game of the year for our blue. Our signal caller stunk number seven was wide open in the flat, at least three times for a first down unfortunately, the ball was not thrown to him. The play calling today was abominable thank God for number seven and a valiant defense.
After throwing his second Interception (the first wasn’t his fault) Reno lost confidence. All the progress he’d made through the course of the season was wiped out and he reverted to the version of himself he showed against Dartmouth. He was playing like a deer in the headlights. On numerous 3rd downs he seemed to have receivers open early but he hesitated, ultimately taking the sack or scrambling for short gains. I give credit to Ostrowsky for building his confidence back up on Yale’s last scoring drive by calling lots of short high percentage passes. Hopefully Dante Reno will carry that confidence forward to the Harvard game.
The game was won by the defense. This is the best Yale defense I’ve seen since at least 2017. Love to see that they got control of the penalties too. The old adage “Defense wins Championships” will again be proven true if Yale wins next week.
BEAT HARVARD!
If Dante watches film of Harvard giving up 43 points to Penn that should boost his confidence.
Well, because of easy schedule & incredible weather this year, we have been lucky keeping #2 as QB. Losing to H is NOT an option…since Coach Reno is basically, a wax figure right now & most likely doesnt even know whats happening on the field, its time to play our best QB. The abusive nepotism has gone far enough….losing this game could set back Yale fb for many, many years. Just put in #15 or just review film between #3 & #15 then whomever is the best option vs H, PLAY HIM. 5th grade football is over…its a business & its time to play our best players especially, for this game.
Clueless.
Winning! Ivy League title and playoff birth on the line. Can’t ask for much more.
Today marked the 950th win for Yale football.
If win #951 comes next week it could be Yale’s biggest win of all, as it will give Yale a bid to its first postseason game ever. Time for Team #152 to make history!
Wow!! Incredible!!
Well, I guess you can say they gutted that one out. That red-zone stop at the end of the first half turned out to be gigantic.
Hope a better offense shows up next week. I don’t think Pitensberger left, Pitsenberger right, Pitsenbergerup the middle, as good as he is, won’t cut it. Nor will 13 points, as I think it highly unlikely that the D, as good as it’s been, will hold Harvard to 10.
Still, it’s been a better season than it seemed it would be following that horrific Dartmouth loss.
Here’s hoping for history next Saturday at the Bowl!
I know Carm Cozza , is looking down with a smile on his face , at The Yale Bowl. He will be attending this game.
Go Bulldogs.!!
Commit: Evan Morton, WR 6’0” 185lbs
Alta HS. Sandy Utah
Offers from Air Force , Brown , Cornell
Good. Yale needs some more good WR’s. Especially if Nico Brown is not returning next year. Not sure if he has any eligibility left.
I believe he’s got two more years but don’t think he will be around after this year
Would u return? Nico won’t be back…especially, knowing the forced QB position unless Coach Reno leaves & they truly have a QB tryout
Anyone have insight into whether Harvard gets an at-large if Yale wins The Game and snags the auto-bid?
My guess is that a W versus a L for Harvard in The Game is the difference between opening at home in the FSC playoffs or going on the road. Either way, Harvard is in.
New FCS pool is out and Yale joins in at #25 while Harvard sits at #10. We will have a ranked matchup this weekend!
Yale should be the favorite, and would be if they were playing one of their other QBs.
How can one not love our defense? They play all out with tremendous speed, athleticism, aggression and a wonderful camaraderie. They will win us The Game or lose it for us.
Either way, they’re great to watch.
If only our offense would drink from the same tap.
They are a brotherhood.
Anyone heard any crowd estimates for Saturday? Around 50k has been pretty standard the last decade, but with Harvard undefeated could we see a bit of an increase?
Last time we had a 9-0 team in The Game at New Haven was 2007. The attendance that day was 57,248.
I looked up the attendance going back to 2015. Hard to believe, but the 2019 classic drew 45k. The fewest in the last decade.
Remember that 2017 was the last of the Beckett era, 2019 the first of the Chun regime. Beckett tended to overstate attendance by a noticeable amount (maybe including freebies distributed but not used?).
Vicky doesn’t seem to give a cr@p if anyone goes to the games, and I think the announced figures for all games in recent years are probably accurate.
So, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were actually more people there in 2019 than 2017, despite the differences in announced attendance.
Maybe Beckett counted the tailgaters who were too drunk to make it into the Bowl. Probably not an insignificant number.
They used to have a fill the bowl promo for the Harvard game if you bought a turkey you got a free ticket or free tickets. Not sure which.
That was a great program, bring a frozen turkey or a unwrapped toy get 2 tickets
According to Grok AI if Yale gets the auto bid their most likely first round playoff opponent would be Villanova At Yale. I would love to see this match-up.
I don’t expect a pep rally and bonfire on Old Campus like the one in 1975, but I hope our Bulldogs will do better this year on the field.
Yale is a 8.5 point underdog to Harvard per fanduel
I assumed H would be favored, but 8.5 seems like Yale is being disrespected.
Of course Yale is disrespected, The Ivy League is disrespected , has been for decades. The Ivy League needs to do what needs to be done.
Start the season sooner add. The games . If you want to play against the Big Boys let your teams get what is needed to perform at the next level and stop half assing everything.
Who is Yales marketing director get rid of them they SUCK.!! Get someone who is going to get people in the stands . Who understands the culture of New Haven , The state of Connecticut, not just New Haven. Have a vision, or in this case get a vision.!! Go Bulldogs!!

Gentlemen; I for one will be in attendance wholeheartedly supporting our blue. I sincerely hope all that are able likewise attend in full support.
I’ll be watching at a Seattle pub with the Yale (and Harvard) Clubs of Western Washington. Should be interesting, drinking at 9 a.m.
I’ll be there! And hopefully at the playoffs too!
