Yale 41 Cornell 24

Yale’s passing game is going to need to show rapid drastic improvement if they are to win the next two games. 150 yards passing is not going to get it done against teams like that.

I think we can take a lesson from Cornell. Not only were their receivers wide open many times, they also seemed to find a way to have two blockers in front of them. Our receivers always seemed to have to fight defenders for the ball on our few completions.

Yale’s offense was 5th grade level. Could not make a third down. No short passing game. Pitsenberger and a cloud of dust.

I think we all thought Coach Reno had more integrity. His son is the 3rd or 4th best QB on the team. Coach gave the QB1 job to his son without ever throwing a pass in college. Nepotism is alive & well in New Haven. Why not play the best QB on the team who has paid his dues waiting for his chance? Do what’s right for the Team & Bulldog nation throughout the globe instead of using your power for selfish gain…
Stats don’t lie:
2024:
McCaughey(21 yr old Jr):
98.05 QBR @ Holy Cross(1-1)
Weather: cold & raining

109.82 QBR @ Cornell(1-0)
Weather: Raining

2025:
Reno(21 yr old Fr):
103.21 QBR v Holy Cross(0-3)
Weather: 74 & sunny

74.03 QBR v Cornell(0-2)
Weather: 75 & sunny

Couldn’t agree more, the offensive Coordinator was Offensive Foul.!! Put in 15 at QB . Seems Dante seems lost at times. Let him see the game from another perspective. He hesitates with his decision to run or throw. But it’s enough for the defense to close the distance in play making. He’s gonna be fine, it’s just that something isn’t right. (Fixable).

Reno is not a running threat. Yale needs to get their WR’s more involved by running bubble screens and jet sweeps to make up for that.

SOE, that’s my point, a shovel pass isn’t generally a call , it’s a 2nd or 3rd option. There were a dozen plays that were missed, also some bad drops by the wide receivers. Inpaticular Stephen’s # 11 had one that would have been a touchdown

I think the passing game will open up a lot of they can get a Nico Brown and Shipp on the field at the same time. Pass blocking needs to be improved too. Reno can’t scramble out of trouble and create plays out of nothing like Grooms and Jordan could.

Not to lick a Dead Horse, why is it so hard for this Sports information Department to report on this FOOTBALL TEAM.? Cornell athletic Department had a nice article up with in a couple of hours after the competition of the game. Do they have someone assigned to the team, or do they just like Tennis , soccer. Field hockey ect.!! What is the problem.?

It really is in inexcusable. If you want to get coverage you need to go to the other team’s sites. Then you see how much higher quality coverage other schools provide.

Been watching Yale football for almost six decades. Can’t remember a more discouraging victory than this one. The kid at quarterback does not inspires a great deal of confidence. So far, it’s been four yards of Pitsenberger and a black cloud of ground-up tire dust. Somehow, I don’t think that’s going to enough going forward.

Easily the most discouraging victory I have witnessed in almost six decades of watching Yale football. The kid starting at quarterback doesn’t inspire a great deal of confidence at the stage. Is he really the best they have?? So far, it’s been four yards of Pittsenberger and cloud of ground up tire dust! I doubt that that will be enough going forward.

The Quarterback seems to be lacking confidence, What’s going on with Pitsenberger fumbling he’s generally reliable with his hands.
The defense won that game against Cornell. Some missed tackles. Misreads on some plays. But come on 2 fumble recoveries, 4 interceptions one for a TD. Well done

They did win both games so far.

I think Reno will ultimately be fine at QB but I can also see giving McCaughey some playing time if the offense stalls next week. Lehigh will be tough but at least it’s not a league game. Let’s find out what we’ve got befor the Dartmouth game.

Here’s the thing with the advent of The Ivy League eligible for the FCS Playoffs this year. All games are important for placement into the playoffs.
This will be a very tough game. The team will have to be disciplined from penalties, protect the ball from turnovers.
The offensive coordinator, really has to come up with a more imaginative approach to the game. This throwing the ball deep , so often is downright ridiculous. So Come On Man.!! Go Bulldogs

If you want to see creative play calling look at Penn St. They make Yale’s scheme look like high school football by comparison.

To Chris Ostrowsky, you have a player in your presence , that isn’t even a thought in your dim eyes. I think it would behove the offense if you would bring ABU KAMARA, in at running back/ receiver in spots . As was done with Melvin Rouse.!! He is to valuable to be utilized on the defense. Please put a better game plan in for your quarterback’s strengths short, to midrange tosses, quick hitters, short yardage . Give the ball to Ezekiel Larry with his athleticism he could get a yard or 2. The point is Chris, SHAKE UP YOUR OFFENSE.!! Come on MAN.!! Go Bulldogs to the Ivy Championship and FCS Playoffs.

Ayo-Durojaiye, Had 17 Tackles last week against Cornell Defensive Player of The Week . Congratulations
Go Bulldogs.!! Beat Lehigh!!

Inumidun Ayo- Durojaiye named Ivy League defensive player of the week, he had his career high 17 tackles against Cornell

Once the offense gets Nico Brown back, they will roll. It looks like he is the engine and gets things going for that unit. What doesn’t get noticed is the separation he creates and ball skills. He’s the enforcer on that side of the ball and should help Reno improve his play.

Agree. Nico displayed the kind of receiver talent against HC that spoiled us when Tipton and Pantelis were playing. Hope he’s back this Saturday. Two dropped passes in the Cornell game were right on target; one for a first down and another for a td. Fortunately it didn’t ruin the game but can’t afford those against our next opponent. Lehigh looks like they have a much improved team from last year.

Mason Shipp is of course a clutch receiver. I share SOE’s view that Mason and Nico on the field together will provide Dante with a significantly better passing game.

Ray, great post . It seems like a glitch with posting on this site lately.
Is anyone thinking about going to Lehigh to see the game on Saturday. I can’t seem to find anyone to go with.?

Gentlemen; I agree with all the comments about the poor play calling and general overall game plan. In addition to Mr. ship and Mr. Brown, it’s time to give some of the younger split ends a chance to show what they can do. It was interesting to notice three freshman lineman were on the depth chart and not the ones who were the talk of the town. As for our current signal caller, I think he will settle in once the split end rotation includes the right players and the offensive coordinator gets his head out of the sand.
