Gentlemen; the officiating was the worst in the history of mankind against our blue. Congratulations to our squad for a complete victory. In reality we should’ve won by 4+ touchdowns.
I agree (e.g. the phantom intentional grounding and the pass interference called against Kamara, which should have been called OPI, just to name two).
Extremely happy with the win. The Yale defense proved themselves today and played like champions. The Dartmouth game is The Game Jr. now in my book, so this win means a lot.
A couple of takeaways to help Yale going forward. 1) Yale doesn’t have a good shortage yardage running game. When in field goal range take the points. Yale has a great field goal kicker. Don’t go for it, unless a field goal would be meaningless. 2) if they do have to go for it on 4th and short, their strongest runner for short yardage is Dante Reno. Put him under center and do the tush push. He’s the strongest and biggest back Yale has.
This was the Yale defense we love. Since halftime of the Merrimack game only 10 points allowed.
The offense, both running and passing, was outstanding. The couple of 4th downs not converted deep in Dartmouth territory is the only thing that kept this game from being a real rout.
Agree the 4th and short up the middle is non existent. Hugo did a great job when getting to the outside. That was a good game . Would like to see Reno, when in shotgun . Fake run and do a jump pass to One of the TE’s up the middle.
Really didn’t like Cahill’s decisions to go for it on fourth down when we had multiple opportunities to put points on the board, especially against a team that has a history of coming back against us. I understand the analytics behind those decisions, but in games projected to be close, I lean toward taking the field goals, especially when your kicker was an All-American last year. Other than that, our biggest concerns heading into this game were the defense and lack of a run game, and this game proved we have both. Go Dawgs!
