Looks like the moderators don’t know what to say anymore. It’s probably too painful to call it as they see it.

Yes, Tre Moore was a positive. Let’s see if Conlin can now tweak the predictable offense to fully leverage his dual threat capabilities. That should have been done in spring and fall prctice. Now it has to be done in the season.

And let’s hope adjustments in coverage can be made to stop the deep pass. It’s been a consistent issue for years. Hasn’t mattered who the personnel is.

STEVE VASHEL MUST GO! THE YALE SECONDARY HAS BEEN A WEAKNESS FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY IS DOING THE SOMETHING OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND EXPECTING A DIFFERENT RESULT, AND THIS STAFF IS INSANE.

Can we run the football, please? Three great running backs with no where to run. That is saying something. Go double tight with a fullback and run the clock so our defense doesn’t get toasted all game long. The backs are talented enough to find running lanes if they have the blocking. Conlin is lazy to not change things up when he sees problems like this. I think the definition of crazy was stated for Vashel, but it also applies to him.

Also, what the hell is going on with John Bezney and Bo Hines not playing? Our gaurds are getting blown off the ball and our receivers can’t get off the ball. Are they coming back this season? Are they hurt or did they quit the team? I thought they would be back for conference play, at least. If they are hurt, what the hell is wrong with our strength and conditioning program or sports medicine program? These kids are fat and slow and get hurt all the time. Someone has to do an evaluation of the athletic program from the top down. Beckett must go. Kids going down like this speak to systemic issues, nothing that the coaches can control if they aren’t able to provide the kids with proper care and development opportunities. Sad to see the athletic program slide this far.

Unfortunately valid points made by all, and very little good news to report this week. Best we start off with the good, Tre Moore. It did look like we have found our QB and with more playing time he will inevitably get more comfortable being in there, so that is the good thing.

Onus falls on Conlin to put him in position with his play calling to be successful. The largest and most impactful disappointment is definitely the offensive and defensive lines. These are groups of guys that have playing experience and some consistency. All of the guys appearing on both sides were either starters or did contribute in some way last year, and they have been poor thus far. We can’t run the ball at all, are having trouble protecting the QB, can’t stop the run, and can’t pressure opposing QB’s. There are definitely other problems, but if you know the game they start here are our other problems are definitely exacerbated as a result. With our back field and H-back (TE) we should be able to run the ball. A change in scheme at this point is tough to do without taking 3 steps back, but some alterations and combinations need to be made for us to be able to get some type of run game going or we are in huge trouble. That will open up our passing game and put less pressure on the QB and WR’s.

I completely agree that DB play has been unsteady and inconsistent for the past 3 years, which does fall on Vashel some. He needs to do a better job in preparation, and recruitment at that position definitely. However, no DB’s can cover WR’s for 10 second every play. The gross lack of pressure on opposing QB’s has had a direct effect on this as well. Over the last few years when we have had good pressure the DB’s have definitely been better. between the DL, and creativity in blitz packages our front 7 needs to pressure the QB and put offenses in dilemmas more in games. Colgate and Cornell didn’t seem to have any problem generating offense against us two straight weeks and didn’t seem pressured or frazzled at any point. This is a definite problem as well.

The injury issue is a bad one, but one that this a signature of this game on every level. The old strength coach was replaced this past year and a new staff was implemented before this season. Bezney is still dealing with lingering issues from surgery, which is not the strength staff’s fault. Hines apparently was injured on one of the first days of summer practice and has yet to return, which is unfortunate and again tough to pin on the new strength regime. We’ll should see how we fair in terms of injures and guys issing games for a few weeks before we crucify them in this too,

Unfortunately we have a good amount of problems right now and can’t point a finger at just one group or person. If you must though, it has to be Reno at this point. The HC is the one who runs things, gets the credit, and takes the blame…that is the job. He needs to get things cleaned up and more solid, & FAST. If not we may struggle in getting many wins this entire season, and none of us want to see that.

JON BEZNEY IS A MEDICAL RED SHIRT THIS YEAR. HE HAD ANOTHER SURGICAL PRICEDURE ON A LEG. I AM WONDERING IF BO HINES WANTS TO PLAY FOOTBALL THIS YEAR AT YALE. I BELIEVE THAT HE LEFT HIS HEART AT NC STATE !
