Aaron Smith, 5’11”, 170 lbs., Athlete, Waukee Senior (Waukee, IA)

Joseph Nash, 6’2″, 265 lbs., Defensive Line, Trinity Christian (Addison, TX)

Jack Michalik, Defensive Back, Brunswick (Greenwich, CT)

With the decommitment of Zane Minors and the addition of Nash and Michalik to this list, Yale now stands at 21 possible commitments. This would be a concern in any normal recruiting cycle, but with the Ivy League allowing certain 5th Year Graduate Students to compete, teams across the league appear to be limiting the number of admission slots for athletes this year in anticipation of many players returning to play four full seasons. While little public recruiting information exists on Michalik, it seems as though he is the son of former Bulldog, Rob Michalik ’91.

Plus Sean Guyton?
It seems some of the Ivies are much closer to their annual quota of 30 than we are.
Is it correct to assume we can make up our short fall in future years?
Let’s get Aristotle!

That is huge, a Harvard grad coming on Yale’s staff. I’m surprised wasn’t he with the Cleveland Browns. Staff.?

Wow, looks like Rich Diana MD posted it. Is it only the post-game?

I was away from New Haven in those years but came back and saw the Navy win with my Dad, Prof. Bob Abelson, who turned me on to the Blue in ’66. Awesome!

Great memories, SOE I agree. The 1981 team. Was the best team . I have ever seen. 1974 1975 were very good too. To be able to watch Dick Jauron, Tyrell Hennings, RudyGreen, Great teams

You are absolutely correct, sitting in the closed end of Harvard Stadium. Tommy Doyle hit Hennings Right in the chest. Hennings unceremoniously dropped the winning TD.
After Milt the pine apple Holt hit his wide receiver with a bomb for the 21 to 16 victory.

I ask a question to Vicky Chun, when can Yale Football get another a game scheduled.? The addition of said game would be beneficial to the Alumni, Local fans. Who I may add , is what will carry the flag to support this endeavor. Not to mention a shot in the arm, to the local merchants and communities at large.
This is the big picture , to the success of having just one more game.
Also relaxing the policy of no food or beverage. Or at least have Katz’s deli serve pastrami and corned beef sandwiches, and Kinishes Naples pizza does a fine job with brick oven pies. Please get rid of those hotdogs. Get Hummel Bros.?!! It could be so much better.?

If the other Ivies don’t add an 11th game I can’t see us doing it.

And if we do add an 11th I hope it’s always against a D-2 school — I still dream of a perfect season. I was 3 in 1960 and don’t remember it.

Terrible news NO SPRING SPORTS mass transfer from players the ivy league will never recover .Its the end if the IVE LEAGUE DONE DEAL.

Variants and strains of these viruses are particularly dangerous. If you don’t keep them in check, what will happen.? More strains will develop . So yes this is unfortunate. But , it is the correct thing to do. As I have said before, if the previous Presidential Administration to correct action. We would not be in the mess. It is now. It’s not hoax.
Connecticut is at its lowest point of infection in 5 months. Be patient, it’s a fargin pandemic. Sports will be back. Appreciate what you have. Wear a mask , do the right thing. I miss my prior life. I never realized, how much Yale sports has meant to me. All of you as well. You are all truly missed. Be well.

Lets not get into politics here. Operation warp speed developed a few vaccines in record time(cut red tape at FDA), had a distribution plan in place via the military for the upcoming approval. If you want to blame anyone, its the individual states (many wanted their own medical professional to evaluate the “vaccine”, which caused concern in the population). If you want to blame ANYONE, look at the Chinese aka CCP.
They “sacrificed” over 100K of their population(BILLIONS, so whats a 100K+), and they took down the country/economy without firing ONE shot!

I’m doing the best I can, still wearing my heart on my sleeve. Wishing for days of yore. With Lacrosse being dashed. I hoping that Football will be played in September.
Best to you and your family Go Bulldogs.

With the Patriot League playing spring football, wouldn’t that give any of those teams a tremendous advantage over Yale next fall?

Aaron Session, OT from suburban Houston’s toughest football district, has grown to 6’ 7” from his height as a junior, according to the Houston press. Session played for a mediocre team, which likely detracted from his publicity. I’m optimistic about his play at Yale.

I’m pessimistic, about and upcoming football season. If in fact that doesn’t play this year. They never will.

Yes this will happen soon. All these recruits that are supposed to come in this year will go else were the Ivy league will be dead..We should be playing spring sports like every one else I thing were the only ones that are not playing basketball also the end is near GO YALE

Darn right, boo-hoo. Where was our classics department when we needed it?
If only palms grew in New Haven.
Over the years we’ve lost quite a few guys to PWO offers from Stanford.
I’m betting Aristotle will play and play a lot.

Time will tell, projects are tough. See if this young man will follow in the steps of that OLine Nicholas Sligh from Georgia in 2018. Next best thing to Godzilla. He never played and actually left the Cardinal. Some other examples,
It’s to bad , Yale would have given him the opportunity to be coached up and get playing time. Instead of riding the pine. But by all means good luck to him.

Not sure there are enough guys on campus/enrolled to organize a meaningful spring session at this time.
Could the league start earlier this summer to better prepare for games against teams that are about to start playing for real?

I was talking to one of the coaches back in January. He was emphatic that Yale would definitely be playing this year.

Boy what a difference between Yale and other schools to do thinks right.Yale puts up a half ass scoreboard in yale bowl last year. They should of tore the old one down and put a new one up. All they had to do was put up the same scoreboard the other team has thats 20 yards away from the bowl the lacrosse team.Uconn on the other hand will be opening there new baseball field march 23. The athletic director the other day saw that the new score board was to small and order a bigger one thats the way its done yale the right way wake up.

without the lights for that small scoreboard there would be no 2nd overtime and Yale would’ve lost to harvard and Dartmouth would be sole champs….think about that….

If we didn’t have a protest, this would be a moot point. Going forward Yale should update the facility.

Cade Klubnick, has committed to Clemson, Other offers from Florida, North Carolina and Texas.

How does everyone think the other Ivy programs recruited in this past cycle? Looks like Columbia had a strong class and Dartmouth a little down?

Watching the ESPN Men’s Basketball show, talking about March Madness. Breaking my heart how Yale would have fared. I miss Ivy League Sports period.!!

Now the high schools are playing spring sports The ivy league is a bust .Holy Cross is playing football . Other leagues in the north east are playing also .Come on ive league get your head out of the sand do something.

ivy guy reports on Voy that, “Our ivy football teams began formal spring practice this week.” Did we?

SPRING FOOTBALL PRACTICES START EARLY APRIL. 12 SESSIONS. NO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE.

RAY:
Many thanks for your sleuthing.
The questions we’re asking ourselves are, “Who will be suiting up this fall, and how many years of eligibility will they have?”
Maybe someone on the AD’s inflated staff could provide some answers. Or, is that too much to hope for?
All the best,
L et V

I wish they would reinstate the policy of watching practice. But it works for the team. 2 Ivy League Football Championships out of 3 years.
But also having the no re- entry policy of Football games, no more bringing in your own food or beverages, Charging families children 12 and under. To attend games, who are looking for a hassle free fun day. I couldn’t bring my binoculars in with the case. My 6 year old Grandson hated the hotdogs. At least sell local Hummels. The game was boring. The Mercer game, I liked but through a kids eye. ? Vicky Lossen up.!! Before you ruin the Yale Bowl experience.

With Holy Cross and Richmond having a spring season and UConn playing in a category well above Ivy League, what chance does Old Eli have against these people?
It’s too late now, but maybe someone (Vicky?) should have thought to play an Ivy only schedule.

1) Holy Cross and Richmond may be a bit beat up, playing 2 seasons in 3 semesters. Whether that’s the case or not, 2) UConn just sucks. So we definitely have a chance.

YALE PKAYS AT MERCER OCT. 2, 2021. YALE HAS 3 NON IVY LEAGUE TEAMS TO PLAY FOR 2021. WHY RUN AND HIDE FROM THEM ? PLAY THEM ! YALE COULD SURPRISE THEM.

An updated roster would be nice. The athletics website still says 2020 and still lists Lamar.

Who is Jordan Bruener? What does “starts with a steal for Alabama mean” Are we talking baseball or football?

If you have to ask, you don’t belong here. Go sniff for truffles , somewhere else.

So when does the Yale Spring Football start, any portal transfer leaving. Besides Lamar .? Any possible transfers coming in.?

What happen to the bridge that was to be built over central ave from the parking lot to yale bowl. Will it get done or not ?

NEWS FLASH ! BREAKING NEWS !

YALE HAS STARTED SPRING FOOTBALL PRACTICE.. TODAY WAS THE FIRST OF TWELVE SESSIONS. ONLY PLAYERS AND COACHES ARE PERMITTED TO ENTER THE INNER SANCTUM OF YALE BOWL. GROUPIES , HOWEVER, MAY CONGREGATE AT THE MAIN PORTAL EXIT.

Thank you, RAY!
Any word on who’s practicing, and, more important, who will suit-up this fall? How many guys who were seniors last fall will be returning? What about the captaincy?
Keep up the great work.
L et V

John Dean, LB was to be the 2020 captain. Will he be the captain if he returns this fall? If so, does that mean this fall’s senior class doesn’t get a captain? What about co-captains? Never been done before, but…
Maybe John Dean should be considered to have been the captain of the somewhat inactive 2020 team, Yale’s first to go 0-0-0.
If co-captains, will they break the fence? The under-staffed athletic dept. will require several new hires for this one.

Tyler Jost has been named to the NFF Hampshire Honor Society which means he will not be playing in the fall. Too bad.
What are the other losses from his class? Awodiran? Carey? Carrington? Dudek? Henson? Howland? Roman? Rouse? Thomas? Warfield?
How bad is the pain?

This is awful! Anybody know how Harvard, Princeton and Dartmouth are doing re losing players?

Could we get and update, on the on goings of the football team.? Size, strength, speed, attrition, transfers in? ANYTHING.!!

A 2021 schedule, even acknowledged as tentative, would be awfully considerate.

Also, considering that PK’s win and lose games (there’s no Harvard 2019 glory without The Hebrew Hammer) and punters play a crucial role, who are the candidates for these positions this year?

Are decommits going to other Ivy schools or out of conference. Besides the player going to Penn

I agree about the punters and kickers, but having lost both Lamar and Dudek, do we have any quality running backs to replace them?

That would be news to Reno. At least as of this webinar presentation in February

https://vimeo.com/508854771

Interesting tidbits are that one way or another Yale will have lights when needed and Yale Field had been completely renovated.

Reno also said they have an open date and are looking for a FBS opponent and/or a southern opponent. May I suggest killing two birds with one stone by scheduling Vanderbilt, Rice or Florida Atlantic University.

I would welcome a game vs Vandy, Rice or even FAU, but it says here that none of those teams would schedule Yale because they’re all marginal bowl candidates in a good year and they’d get no bowl credit for beating us.

But it doesn’t hurt to dream.

Thanks SOE. I would have liked to hear Tony’s thoughts on the possibility of an 11th game. It’s past time for the Ivy League to .add a game and open up the schedule to more inter sectional games.

Yale playing Vanderbilt would be amazing. 11th game would be awesome. As far as Dudek leaving is asinine. I miss Yale football and in general Yale sports.

Aaron Smith , de omitted from Yale. Good Luck to you. Hope you find what your looking for.

YALE FOOTBALL DECOMMITS-2021

AARON SMITH

ZANE MINORS

DAVID ADEWALE

BRYCE HALL

WHO IS NEXT ??

We’re very strong at DE, so Adewale and Hall may have received gentle shoves. Minors was swept of his feet by his hometown team, Texas.. I have no idea about Smith.

YALE DAILY NEWS SPORTS FRIDAY EDITION HAD AN ARTICLE RE YALE FOOTBALL SPRING PRACTICE..

The article was not much help, though. Who is the leading QB candidate?Any injuries?
Who will replace those super receivers of last year?

I’d be awfully surprised if Gavin O’Connor is not the starting QB based on his past varsity success. One of the joys of THE GAME 2019 is that young WR’s made key catches along with Klubnik and Shofti.

I think Yale depth is deep and talented. Nolan Grooms is no slouch either. Besides he is mobile to boot. Yale does have 5 to 7 QBs. Options are good,

I see the Atlanta Falcons selected a Tight End in the first round of the draft. I wonder how that will affect Jaedan Graham’s status with the team.
