Coach Reno is putting together yet another stellar recruiting class with ample time to continue reeling in top recruits. Let us know who we are missing and we will continue to update the list.

Thank you
Seems fitting that The Peddie School where Larry Kelley spent so many years as a student, teacher, and administrator would send Yale a wide receiver, Mason Shipp
Commentator:
Notify 247 Sports that we’ve claimed Luke Foster a three star TE. Let’s wave the flag.
HOW ABOUT SPORTS 247 CLAIMING DOMINIC ZAPHERIN C/B AS A YALE RECRUIT, TOO ?
247 acknowledged Luke Foster,
BRAVO! Congrats to the person who woke up 247 about Luke Foster.
We need a placekicker and maybe a punter as well. Anyone see know of one coming?
Yale has a very good placekicker and punter in Shamus Florio coming in very strong leg. If we ever get a chance to see him GO YALE
GO Yale!
YALE RECRUIT 2020
BEN FINKRL QB, 6 ” 3″” 210 LBS. WHITE PLAINS H.S.,, WHITE PLAINS. , NY.
PASSED FOR 20 TDS IN 2019.
MEANT FINKEL
Is Finkel going to play lacrosse as well?
So Ben Finkel is a recruit not a Yale Commit. .? All I see is and offer from Yale And Dmouth.?
He’s already at Yale. See YDN article.
The mystery deepens. Finkel is not listed on the football roster.
BEN FINKEL—LIKELY A WALK ON .
You guys a bunch of Sherlock Holmes. !! Very Good!
This year’s first year class has a lot of QBs, one of whom has already been shifted to a different position..
OK , article says they have 23 committed players so far. Then why is there only 18 on the list.? Come on man:!!
Good point, JH!
What gives, Moderator? Are the five who’ve been omitted small, slow, overweight, weak, and/or unmotivated?
Should put on Ben Finkle, he’s new to the team.?
What happened to Lamar? I heard he was playing his last year of eligibility at B.C.
I don’t see Alan Lamar on the BC roster.
Saturday would have been the halfway point of the season and we would have all been complaining about how fast the season was going by.
I miss complaining
I should have said last Saturday
Moderator:
1. Are we recruiting Reed Klubnik’s younger brother, Cade, a FOUR star junior QB from Austin Westlake?
2. Can some smart youngster fix this site so it doesn’t reject most of our efforts?
I believe Reed’s brother will go Div. I
Ahem, we are D-I. Thank you very much.
JOHN,
WHAT’S UP ? I NEED A YALE COMMITMENT FIX !
Ray, I was just thinking the same thing. I have nothing. As soon as I do . I will put it on. I was wondering, about the YDN sports that they had 23 commits .? We have 18 noted. Commitments. I can’t find the other 5 possibly 7 others.
Try contacting the sports people at the YDN. Maybe somebody can help out. You guys are our best fans! They should be eager to connect with you!
Ok I sent off a email to Jared Fel the author of the article. Asked if he could inform us who the 5 other commits are.?
I sent off another email to Jared Fel, to confirm the 5 other commits. It may help if others chimed in.?
I just wrote to him, too. Let’s see what happens.
DONE !
I wrote him too.
Ray: Congrats on the blue ink! Terrific!
Hello guys, Jared Fel gave me a response to our question. It came from Jake Pelletier recruitment specialist. Yes they do have 23 confirmed commits. So far. But he was not able to divulge the names of the 5 players.
We should start to ask Jake.?
What about the moderator.? Could you intervene on behalf of The Yale Football Blog.?! It would be most appreciated.
I sent a email to Jake Pelletier today. See if he could shed some light on the incoming commits.
Hi JH:
I got the same response from Jared Fel.
Many thanks for chasing Pelletier.
I’d be very interested to know what’s meant by a “confirmed” commit. Is it really a done deal with admissions, financial aid, etc etc?
Also, does the Athletic Department hold off releasing the names of those whose commitment smells wobbly?
Not sure we’ll ever get the real skinny.
Hey LET ET V, it’s very trying times for all. I am so dissatisfied and disappointed with Donald Trump. I feel if he had done the right thing In the beginning. The Ivy League would have had some sort of season. But a narcissist, racist leaderless leader. Is no good for our Country..
Back in September we had 2 cases of Covid 19 . We are up to 114 with 12 On ventilators. We are starting to go back to where we were in April.
It’s very simple wear your mask, wash your hands. Stay socially distanced. Vote for a someone who isn’t and imbecile.
what the hell does this have to do with Yale football? In response, BLAME CHINA!
I knew you wouldn’t get it
Oh I got it and I’m still here. Remember you called me an asshole and said I would disappear when my Son graduated…..but lets come on a Yale football site and cry and bash Trump. Who really is the Asshole here JH?
Still you.!! LMAO!!
Let’s tone it down, guys. We’ve all got our worries and concerns, but we all salute the same flag.
Hey how bout them Bulldogs.!!
As an alternative, we could have all voted for Alice Cooper, Presidential nominee of The Wild Party!
No thanks.
Any new about spring football?
The Ivy Group of Presidents, in their wisdom, have ruled that no fall sport will be played this spring. At least that’s my understanding.
Well done Dieter. Nice to have another Yale star play for the Bears: Mike Pyle 61; Gary Fencik 76
https://www.nhregister.com/sports/article/Former-Yale-star-Dieter-Eiselen-promoted-to-15710092.php
Congrats, Dieter! Good luck!
Foye today for Falcons: 10
TKS, 7 solo, 1 SCK, 1 TFL. A rising star!
He may be all pro this year
This would have been Princeton at Yale, Toy drive for the kids at Yale and SRC . The Food drive for the Food pantry . I try and watch games on TV , but no interest in them . Boy to be able to see Yale on the field playing a game.
Maybe in my dreams. Hope you all are doing well. Hawk 196 , Cheers to you too..
Go Bulldogs
back atcha JH
Nothing goes by quicker than an Ivy League football season. Princeton week already.
Was able to catch the 2017 Yale Princeton game today on YouTube. I enjoyed that game.
Did you see that next week Yale will replay five Harvard games Tuesday through Saturday. The games from 1984, 1994, 2006, 2017, and 2019.
I’m looking forward especially to 2006. The others, except for 1994 are on YouTube already.
Details on the athletics website.
Thank you very much. !! I appreciate that.
I’m really enjoying watching these game replays on Facebook. It captures the evolution of Yale football and football in general over a few decades. Plus Yale always wins!
I’m hoping they will add the 1981 Yale -Navy and 2014 Yale -Army games sometime soon.
They all end up on YouTube as well
Gentlemen; a replay of the 1956,1960 and 1981 contests would endear every dye in the wool blue’s heart.
Also 1972 and 1980. Jauron in ’72 and Czinger in ’80
RAY:
How about telling your source(s) that the football faithful badly need a Thanksgiving present: the names of a few super recruits whose commitment is solid.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours,
Cheers, L et V
I MOSTLY PERUSE THE TWITTER ACCOUNTS OF THE COMMITS TO CONFIRM THAT THEY HAVE CHOSEN YALE.. ALSO, I USE ANCILLARY INFO RE FOOTBALL AND AND BASKETBALL ROSTERS FOR THEIR HEIGHTS & WEIGHTS IF NEEDED . I CHECK FOR NEWSPAPER REPORTS CONCERNING THEIR EXPLOITS.
YESTERDAY I REVIEWED BRYCE HALL AGAIN. TWO SOURCES NOTED THAT HE WEIGHED 265 LBS.
Watching the replay of the 1984 game against Harvard last night, my first thought was how great it was to hear Dick Galiette’s voice again.
Agree with you Bulldog10JW. Dick Galiette was the “voice of Yale football.”
Tomorrow I would be heading to Cambridge, to stay with cousins. I would have a great time catching up. Have great breakfast, pack a lunch, we would head over to the stadium. 20 minutes away. After head over to Salem to Pickering wharf. To Finz for seafood and Prime rib. I miss my cousins, alas I miss Yale Football
Good way to start the holiday season , Cheers to you all.!! Till we can see you at the Yale Bowl again . Sincerely JH
YALE COMMIT : .
:
AARON SESSION OL, 6′ 6″ 305 LBS. MORTON RANCH H.S., KATY TX. OFFERED BY : UCONN , LOUISIANA, LOUISIANA- MONROE, NEW MEXICO STATE, TEXAS STATE , TULSA, WYOMING , 6 IVY LEAGUE TEAMS , 3 PATRIOT LEAGUE TEAMS ,& OTHER TEAMS.
Today’s Houston Chronicle has Aaron Sessions ranked as 89 among the top 100?area recruits, and it reflects his commitment to Yale. The only other Ivy commits among the top 100 are Jacob Psyk, a DL at Strake Jesuit ranked number 88 and committed to Harvard, and Jake Peterson, a Penn commit out of a private school in the Woodlands who plays LB and is ranked 94.
Watched the replay of the 2006 Harvard game last night. As good as Klubnik and Shohfi were, and they were great, Chandler Henley was right there with them as a receiver. I’ll never forget the catch he made as time expired to send the 2003 Princeton game to OT and Yale to an eventual win.
It was also nice to see a happy Jack Siedlecki. There was a lot of pressure on Jack his last few years at Yale and it was good to see him with a smile on his face.
I’d say Harvard had a slight edge, based on returning players from last year, but now that Tony Reno has figured out how to beat Tim Murphy, it could have been anybody’s game. Now if he could only figure out how to beat Buddy Steevens…
Was great day to be able to watch a Yale Game today. In the low 60’s. That figures? Lost a die hard Yale Fan, started watching Yale games in the 30’s. To me that is amazing. Stanley, was a gentleman and just a great guy. I wish I was able to have met him sooner in my life. . God Bless Stanley, May your Holiday be blessed , Cheers to each and everyone of you, and your families . Sincerely JH
I can’t help wondering how Yale vs Harvard would have turned out this year, with the players from each side returning. Any guesses?
Just discovered this Yale football 1991 season in review on You Tube. A reminder of how much fun it was to watch the Yale option offense with Nick Crawford at qb and Chris Kouri at rb. Nice touch with Carm’s speech at the end of the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPiieSzZlro
The ‘91 team was Cozza’s last good team.
It actually wasn’t that good, but it looked good compared to Cozza’s other teams in the 90’s. Also Tony’s teams have now spoiled us a bit.
The YDN reports that the 2021 Harvard game will be a Yale home game. I assume that means no schedule changes to account for the canceled 2020 season.
Found this on Twitter. I was there to see Yale’s 800 win (also was there for 900). Nice to see footage of Bartholomew again. He was way too fast for the Dayton defense.

Found this clip from Yale’s 800 win against Dayton. Rashaad Bartholomew was way too fast for Dayton. Made them look like a Division III program by comparison.

I guess no news, is good news.
Found this on Twitter. Nice to see Rashaad Bartholomew again. He was a Yale great.

That was Yale’s 800th win SOE. I was in the stands for Yale’s 600th win against Lehigh in 1964 and the 700th against Cornell in 1979. It took a long time to get from 700 to 800 despite the increase to 10 games a year in 1980. It shows how great Cozza’s run from 1967-1981 was for Yale football.
I was at the 800th win and the 900th. I watched the 700th win (against Cornell ) on WTNH. I hope the replay that game someday soon. It was a miraculous comeback made possible by a Kenny Hill reception on a deflected pass which he broke for around 40 yards setting up the winning TD.
I remember that deflected pass very well. Yale actually played poorly that day and should have lost, but those Yale teams back then seemed to find a way even when not at their best.
Both stories you linked to were fun to read.
Here is the link to the New York Times article on the 700th win . Brings back happy memories of the great John Rogan. He was a real winner.

Yale vs UConn 2021
Nice holiday present
I see two things in UConn’s scheduling Yale. First, UConn must be having problems scheduling opponents for 2021 now that the Huskies are an independent with no fellow conference teams to fill out the bulk of the schedule. Second, I suspect UConn is not anticipating much of a season because a victory over Yale would not count towards bowl eligibility (absent an unlikely waiver from the NCAA). As an independent UConn would be challenged to get a bowl bid even with six other wins, considering the absence of any conference bowl ties.
5:25pm all is well !!! I dreaming of a Yale Football Game.. just like the ones I used to watch. Where the Bulldogs were winning, we all were grinning.!! As Ivy League Championships , danced in our heads..!! I get my vaccine next week. All the best to you and yours!!
JH:
So glad to see you’re getting vaccinated next week.
Cheers,

How about a new thread so we don’t have to scroll through all these old comments
JH:
Nice work on finding Aaron Smith. He looks like a good one,
For what it’s worth, which may be very little, 247 now has us in third place in the Ivy League recruiting sweepstakes.
If a new thread is begun, please lead off with a list the current commits plus, if possible, links to their tapes.

Best of luck to Alan Lamar. Wish we had the chance to see him play another season.
https://www.kait8.com/2020/12/14/yale-rb-alan-lamar-grad-transfers-arkansas-state/
Sad to see Alan go. It would have been nice to see Lamar and Dudek both completely healthy and at the top of their game this fall.
Yes it would, but I believe he left so he wouldn’t be 2nd or 3rd fiddle. Yale is loaded at this position and others as well.
A joyous Merry Christmas and A better New Year to all.!! We need deserve it.
You never have too many running backs. Just in the last three years, Lamar, Dudek, and Deshawn Salter have all missed significant time.
Have we lost Derrick Lett, Recruiting Coordinator and Asst Head Coach (RB)? He’s not mentioned on the roster.
If so, that would be a huge recruiting loss and why weren’t we told and where did he go and who’s to replace him?
Derrick Lett is now the WR coach at Arkansas State. Looks like he recruited Lamar. Lett was a fantastic recruiter for Yale and will be very hard to replace.
https://volswire.usatoday.com/2020/12/17/tennessee-vols-football-derrick-lett-coaching-staff-butch-jones-arkansas-state/
Tough loss for YALE This will not be the last Reno and other coaches will be gone if the price is right. Lett i think was the best running back coach Yale ever had.Kids will be lost with out him,This may snowball new RB recruits may leave other players will leave to..He was a great recruiter this will hurt Yale the most, We all know why this happen a virus did us in MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL.
Coaches, leave all the time. It’s the nature of the business. Derrick was very approachable, cordial gentleman. The best to him and his family. At least he and Allan will find success together.
When people see them , They’ll say in disbelief, These guys came from YALE.!!!
Reno , will find a great replacement, the carousel continues. Yale will get their share of the great players.
Merry Christmas to all and to all another Yale Championship 2021.!!! Bulldogs
AMEN !!
The best head coaches in the country regularly lose assistants. One of the reasons they are so successful is that they pick great people who sooner or later get offers they cannot refuse.
To my Brother Yale 1701, to you a speedy recovery and blessings bountiful with abundance. Merry Christmas ?
Playing UConn makes no sense to me. I saw the first game in 1948, when Yale, led by Levi Jackson, won 7-0, but UConn considered it a moral victory for them (Yale was highly favored). I followed the series every year we played, and they were almost always close games until UConn went big time and we got slaughtered. Now why play a team that does not play by Ivy League rules or anything close?
Yale should play Hawaii again. ROAD TRIP!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTIhF2ubugQ
In case anyone missed this look back at the Harvard game. I thought it was interesting that the ref told Tony that they could go to a 3rd OT if necessary.
What gives with commits? Have Asselta’s and Lett’s departures croaked our recruiting?
For what it’s worth, we’ve slipped to 3rd place in the 247 Sweepstakes.
Aaron Smith out of Iowa, is no slouch. Des Moines Times of the top 50 players. Smith was 19 out of 50 . He was upgraded from 29 to the 19th position . Tell me that kid has no stars is ridiculous. What is 247 deal. No credibility with that group.
This kid is a player. , he will make a difference between f he stays at Yale.
