Yale 10 Columbia 13

I was in attendance at the game with the Mrs. Absolutely filthy language exhibited by our boys. Considering the atrocious turn of this season, these men – especially the seniors – should be thinking about their professional decorum and employability. There is no need to shout obscenities towards individual players on the other team so loudly the entire stadium can hear. I would hesitate to hire some of these men at my firm.

That’s been an issue for Reno’s entire tenure.
This is Yale — not “The U.” Act like it. They don’t.
Winning masks a lot of warts. Losing shines a light on them.

That’s what has always bothered me about Reno and his staffs. I noticed this 6 years ago sitting behind Yale bench at a home game vs Dartmouth. I could not believe the obscenities being loudly spewed by the Yale players toward their opponents from the sidelines. Everyone could hear it clear as a bell and Reno nor his staff did anything about it. Just a total embarrassment and classless

Well, there’s always men’s Hockey to watch. Oh wait, they lost tonight 6-0. Looks like another fantastic season.

You know, Yale moved the ball so well on their last drive of the first half when they finally started throwing intermediate routes. If they had just stuck with that, but instead it was mainly runs and short passes the rest of the game. It was almost like they wanted to rely of the defense to win it.

We were outplayed and out-coached. Columbia is a very good team that is a title contender and with a defense that held our high scoring offense to one field goal and one td. The Lion coaching staff was well prepared for both our passing attack as well as our run game. For the latter, no doubt having our former rb coach on there coaching staff helped them anticipate how Reno would use Pitzenberger and Peterson. Which is why the major criticism should be Reno’s continued use of running plays that were clearly ineffective. Our chances of winning at least 2 of the next three games rest with our offense. The talent is there but we need the coaches to draw up much better game plans than what we saw tonight.

Congratulations to John Poppe, coached a heck of a game. Yale was lucky not to get blown out.
Not a big fan of the play calling. That was boring and unimaginative.. extremely disappointing.

Reno is apparently one win of matching Siedlecki’s win total and also leading Yale to a similar period of mediocrity.

I wouldn’t go that far. Reno has won four championships, including the last two, and has done a decent job against Harvard and has shown that he can recruit. Let’s give it a little more time before we talk about mediocrity.

This team has the talent. It must be extremely frustrating for them. They have the talent
Seems to me that the offensive coordinator has intermediate brain farts . Why are you throwing the deep ball so often. 5 to 20 is good. Why is this team so undisciplined with penalties. Has been for so long. On both sides of the ball. IT’S THE COACHING.!!
RENO IS A MICROMANAGER. ANALYTICS MANIAC.
Example is the 1st of the Dartmouth game. Over 9 minutes. Instead of taking the Field goal. He puts in a fake FG attempt play with Conforti . Getting stopped cold FOR NOTHING.!! Oh that non FG attempt WAS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE GAME.!!
Tony relax , let your coaches coach. Let players play. Coach O put in plays that let your players shine. Play with in your means. Come on man. You’re better than that. To many missed opportunities this season. The only team that really kicked your behind. Was Cornell, every game Yale had a chance.

I’m not sure I agree with the assertions that there’s a lot of talent here and the blame is all on the coaches. Yes, the coaching/scheming isn’t very good, but this team features a lot of upperclassmen who weren’t able to crack the starting lineup prior to this year. That says something about the talent level in general. (Before any “Daddys” reading this get upset, I’m not singling out any one player, and there are obvious exceptions to that generalization.)
What’s also concerning is that there don’t appear to be many standout underclassmen cracking the starting lineup and asserting themselves as future superstars. Makes me wonder: has the recruiting pipeline reduced to a trickle in recent years?
I hope to be proven wrong, but this feels a little like 1982, which is an ominous thought, considering what came next.* Years of titles, followed by a drop-off in talent when the understudies become starters — not a good trajectory.
*-for those who weren’t following the program then, just check the records:

I think the “standout underclassmen” are neglected their turn by an age hierarchy. Have seen many current freshman-juniors show they are plenty more than capable and talented than these guys on the field. The offensive side of the ball is especially loaded with subpar seniors that seem to just be decoys. Defense has some young talent in guys like Kamara. I think the coaching fails in the scheme but especially fails in giving younger playmakers opportunities and rids of any competition in the room where guys can do no wrong and still be in their starting spots.

To Voy vey that’s what I mean by Yale has the talent. #18 and #13 #28 and few more are not used at all or severely underutilized. I would rather see the kids have class then act like they can’t utilize the English language better.

Why not give guys opportunities as well coaches? Four receivers cycling out there with little production. Two running backs cycling with little production. Let playmakers make plays in space and it will reflect the coaches better. Looks like 8 Nico Brown is back from injury but just a reserve, 28 Billy Daal hasn’t seen meaningful touches since game 1, these are guys who stood out and showed explosiveness and stood out in Spring game more than anybody else.
Who’s responsible and making the calls for who’s playing?? Looks like they needed a spark on both sides of the ball!! Is this Ostrowsky or Reno making these decisions? Poor coaching is going to have players confidence ruined by inhibiting opportunities. There needs to be some accountability from the top. Have some trust in your players and let the players play. You start to understand why we see young transfers out of this program with an apparent hierarchy to the field. Unbelievable coaches.

No wonder the kids are transferring out. Then they go and they’re starting or 2nd string. Use the whole team. Let them play. For crying out loud.!!

This is one of those seasons where the best we can hope for now is winning the Big Three Championship. Before the Ivy League was formed beating Princeton and Harvard made for a successful season and Reno has done quite well in accomplishing this in recent years. If he can do it again with the deficiencies we have in line backing and kicking I will be pleased enough with the way the season ends.

Maybe it’s time to shake up the offensive staff as a whole, start from the top get rid of Ostrowsky, seems very under qualified for what he’s made out to be. According to research, his record is around 55-90 in his career prior to Yale with many years at d2 and d3 programs. Another thing is what’s with the receivers split 5 yards from the sideline, interesting decisions, don’t think this guy has much football knowledge

Coach O is an unqualified clown. I sure hope he’s not actually calling plays, although it seems he may be given the utter lack of offensive success.

I’ve been saying that since he committed to Yale. Utilize him like they did with Rouse.? But that’s typical Reno.

Remember Aidan Warner who transferred to Florida as a preferred walk on.? He’s starting right now against # 2 Georgia

Yes, his first SEC game against #2 Georgia, and he was thrown into the fire. Kid performed pretty well given the circumstances–kept them in the game until the last 5 minutes. Looking forward to what he can do the rest of the season. Imagine what he could’ve done in the Ivy. Sad Reno and O let him go.

Did Tony have a choice. The kid probably knew he had a chance to compete for the starting job but decided he wanted to go home.

True! After only 2 weeks of moving to backup, he had to step up to the starter’s role against the #1 defense in the nation. Next up, he travels to Texas and starts against the pre-season #1 Texas Longhorns. He’ll be fine as he gains experience as a starting QB in the SEC.

Guys what the hell was that last night was it poor coaching or poor personal execution or lack of talent could be all of them. Do you think reno will take responsibility for the loss he should the offensive schemes were disappointing no creativity a lot of misfires on offensive. The defensive side of the ball was not much better. They struggled with the run some times all is not well with Yale One thing that bothers me about Reno he thinks he knows talent not so he has a outstanding running back on the bench who has not play a lick in his 4 years and his name is Wilhelm Daal boy reno missed the boat with this young man big strong and he has speed to. Reno put him in the last few games if you have the balls see what you missed the last few years.

Gentlemen; the lion debacle was due primarily to poor play calling and in general poor tackling. our split ends are extremely skilled catching the ball down the field as opposed to all these plays called behind the line of scrimmage. Poor coaching has now resulted in two ancient losses which should have been in our win column.

The poor play calling was definitely a factor but also seems Reno just favors playing the older kids. Lots of younger talent with more speed and explosiveness in Daal and Brown and neither played a lick. Hell give Aidan Stephens a shot as well, let’s try to build some guys confidence and see what they are capable of, lots of mediocrity from same guys for past three years with no change or opportunities, seems silly by the coaches. I have been waiting to see these guys in action for some time now.

Gentlemen; caveman mentality in our coaching staff appears to be rampant regrettably in our blue staff. Our blue squad personnel is not going to change at this time. It is up to the coaching staff to develop productive schemes which utilize the skill set of our squad. I agree there are younger players who should get a chance to play, including some linebackers hopefully who can tackle.

Wow, just learned receiver coach knight and offensive coordinator ostrowsky coached together for 8 years, no wonder they are so bad, clowns tend to stay together to protect their insecurities, will not be tuning in or putting any more of my money into fraudulent program, program wreckers

Gentlemen; it is quite obvious this team has under performed so far this year. Whether it is coaching or other factors is for you to decide and comment.
