Yale 45 Columbia 10

Gentlemen; a good effort and execution by our blue squad today against the Lions. Another great performance by Mr. Rawlings, Mr. Klubnik and Mr. Shohfi. The dynamic duo of Mr. Klubnik And Mr. Shohfi may be the best tandem of blue split ends we have seen in a long time. I like the adjustment made by the defensive coaches Of inserting two defensive ends in the defensive tackle positions on third and long situations to get a better pass rush. I hope the coaches will also give number 24 future carries even though he fumbled on the goal line today as we will need Mr. Alston in the future against much tougher defenses. I will sleep better tonight after today’s blue squad performance however the lion squad we played today is nowhere near the quality of the tiger in cantab squads we will face in the future.

Yale is improving with every game. I think they can run the table. Need Princeton to knock off Dartmouth next week for Yale to capture a share of Ivy Championship. Heard Gerbino left game today with an injury. If he can’t play next week I think Princeton will beat Dartmouth next week. If that happens Yale will control its own destiny. .

None of the last three will be easy, not even Brown who is putting up a bunch of points. Columbia shot themselves in the foot today and Yale took advantage.

Yale must play mistake free football and hopefully find a running game. As much as we all like Yale’s quick striking offense, a few 8 minute drives to keep the defense off the field would be ideal.

Can’t look past Brown.

Agree. Brown is the most improved team in the Ivy League, and they have reached a point where they can beat anybody. At least we can say Yale will have a winning season, whatever happens, but is that enough for a team that was picked first? We won’t see a Yale team like this for quite awhile when you look what’s behind these seniors.

I agree with the all the positives mentioned above. Yale’s aerial attack generated by the superb trio of seniors Rawlings, Klubnik and Shohfi, is what gives us a reasonable chance to have a 9-1 season. Some observations: In terms of the Wow! factor, Shohfi continues to make absolutely spectacular catches. It was pleasing to watch Carrington show his pass catching abilities today but he had his arm in a sling late in the game. Joey Felton looks like he will be a big yardage kick returner/receiver for Yale. Lamar still does not look like he’s playing injury free.

Guys we all have to come down to earth Columbia is another team that has its ups and downs. If Columbia QB was on target more with his WR the score would have ben different .Not sold on our DB yet but they are showing progress .Our QB and WR were great, Yale will still need a running game the next few weeks if we want to be in the hunt for a title.Defense line showed some grit sat so did the LB. Yale has not played a perfect game yet hope that comes in the next three games. Joey Felton has to have more playing time but him in the slot and let him go. Run him in the jet sweep get him outside good speed. fun to see him play. Good luck in the next few games Yale get us a title. Mr Lewis maybe Yale is turning the conner maybe not the big boys are coming up remember Dartmouth.

Re: Yale running game. What was the purpose of putting Lamar in towards the end of the game when he was hardly used prior to Yale’s last offensive drive especially if he is still recovering from whatever injury that has limited his playing time through most of the season. Was his td catch in the waning minute worth the risk of further injury? What has happened to Trenton Charles? Also injured? When the game was well in hand wouldn’t that have provided an opportunity to give some playing time to the freshmen running backs that were 3 star recruits on the 247 website? In terms of skillful runners, Rawlings has shown some impressive speed this year. There’s a lot to like as far as Nolan Grooms running ability as well. He looks like the type that would perform well in a Navy triple option offense.

I’m really excited about Nolan Grooms. He is going to be great. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him beat out O’Connor next year.

It was a nice win (ANY win is a nice win) but, as an earlier commenter observed, if the Columbia QB had been anywhere near as accurate as, say, Robinson of Penn the week earlier, we probably would have had the same kind of shootout we had the week before. I believe secondary play is improving, but it will have to improve more if Yale is to have a serious chance at running the table. Although the interference calls on Rouse were a little frustrating, I appreciate his aggressive and tenacious play. Better to be flagged for 15 yards than get burned for 50 and a TD, which has been the SOP far too often in the recent past. The line has been stellar against the run most of the year. That continued yesterday.

Shohfi, Klubnik, and Rawlings continue to astonish and amaze. Just wish the offense could get a little more consistency with the running game.

All in all, a little sloppy at times, but a good result. Now let’s beat Brown and get ready for the Crucible.

Carrington left the game yesterday with an injury and his arm was in a sling after the game. Tipton and Sandifer have both missed the last two games with their own injuries. Hopefully Tipton and Sandifer will return soon or Yale may be forced to return Rousse to WR. Felton is also a promising alternative.
