april 22nd news

Spring Ball officially concluded on Saturday with the “One New Haven” event at Bowen Field. The offense and defense competed for nine quarters on a rain-soaked afternoon with the offense edging the defense 5-4. The defense surprisingly won the first quarter as the offense struggled to get into a rhythm, but the offense eventually found its groove to best the defense on the day. The defense at all three levels appears to be much further ahead in their development than just a season ago with key battles pushing players to improve. The linebackers and defensive backs are likely still the weakest positional groups overall, but they seem to be improving at a faster rate than other more established groups.

The next time the Bulldogs will be suiting up as a team will be mid-August for the start of fall camp. Summer attendance for players sounds like it will be very high this summer as the Elis continuously seek to get bigger, faster and stronger for the upcoming campaign.

Men’s Lacrosse defeated Albany this weekend 10-5, while Men’s Baseball swept Penn in a three game series 6-5, 9-7, and 8-0.

We realize that specific info is hard to come by, but all of us would welcome news as to who’s looking good, particularly on defense. More specifically, how does Dudek look? Also, what about the Bowl?

The Bowl currently looks like it could hold a motorcross rally. Lots and lots of piles of dirt.

Piles of dirt suggest that a decision’s been made. Let’s hope the new turf is a suitable shade of blue. I’m surprised our energetic new AD didn’t auction off pieces of the sacred sod.

Dudek looked very good in pretty limited action. I have heard that sophomores Goodyear and Osa have looked good this spring. Also heard the transfer fro m Air Force is huge and could help immediately on the dline. We only had a couple series on offense with all the starters in and they looked strong. Hope the boys have a strong offseason as this team has the talent to contend.

I THOUGHT TRENTON CHARLES RAN VERY WELL-ESPECIALLY AROUND THE END. BLAKE HILL , BRET GERBER , AND DEVIN HILL DID WELL STOPPING RUNS ALONG THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. THE LINE NEEDS MORE SIZE. JOSH KEELER , ADAM RAINE, & SEBASTIAN BRUNO WERE DRESSED BUT DID NOT PLAY. ALSO, OSE DID NOT PLAY . HE WORE A BOOT. NUMBER # 23 ( SPENCER ALSTON ? ) RAN HARD. JOSH DE ST. PLAYED SIGNIFICANT TIME AT GUARD.

Hinish was on the sidelines as well so Yale was down to two centers. Cepalia and Sterling split snaps and both are projected starters. Gargiula and Warfield had most of the snaps at Tackle and look to be the projected starters at tackle come Fall. Schuller was also on the sidelines so the line had a lot of shuffling. Yost and Neagli worked mostly at guard. As a whole both units looked good. Rawlings won player of the game and O’Connor also played well.

Among the missing: RB Michael Purvey 3 star 2017 recruit. No longer on the roster.

Noticed that Nick Henkel qb another top recruit from 2017 is also no longer on the roster.

Both Henkel and Purvey miss all of last season due to injury. Perhaps they never fully recovered, like Bo Hines.

Has the class of 2023 been released to the public? i cannot find it anywhere and other Ivys are putting up their incoming class.

What’s ESPN Doing..? Showing women’s beach volleyball. Can’t find the IL L T.!!!
