Good group so far! Thanks for pulling this together.
Georgia, is making a push to get Sligh as a PWO. They contacted him on Sunday to try and sway his decision
This is off the subject, but I just saw a Harvard press release announcing that the Game next year will be played at Fenway Park.
yes 2018 7,000 more seats than Hahvad stadium. which will be under reconstruction . which will in turn reduce the amount of seats at the horse shoe.
I remember seeing the old Boston Patriots play at Fenway in the sixties. As great a facility it is for baseball, it was just plain awful for football! Within a few years the Patriots moved out – to Harvard Stadium!
Yalies should just buy on the Harvard side . Which I’m sure will be better viewing. I’m sure they gouge also . Greedy cantabs
I predict a Harvard so -so season next year so I am betting they will have plenty of seats available for Yalies to cheer team 146 on to victory. #takeoverfenway146 #FTO146
Looking at the Cantab’s schedule next year, I expect them to be 5-0 halfway through the season, then finish 5-5. Weak OOC schedule.
Tailgating at Fenway will be very limited. Some good bars in the area however.
Just scored 2 nights at the Verb for $95 a night, right across from Fenway. They hadn’t heard about the game for ’18, now they have and prices are shooting up

Hope you’re up to feeding us info on recruits when you can. We need some more bruisers.
All the best, L et V
CUBBY SCHULLER, DE, DT, 6 ‘ 6″ , 265 LBS. BERNARDS H. S., BEDRNARDSVILLE, N.J. OFFERED BY COLGATE , COLUMBIA
Thank you, Ray.
Let’s all raise a toast to LB Matt Oplinger ’18 who was today awarded the Bushnell Cup as Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year — first Eli defender since the awesome Kevin Czinger in ’80. I noticed in the 2016 win over Harvard that Matt played a tremendous game, making tackles all over the field. Congrats!
Looking ahead, we will need immediate reinforcements on D, hopefully rising from the current ranks and frosh so we can continue our ITO — Ivy League Takeover — in 2018.
I expect big things from Noah Pope! Had a chance to see him at Choate.
Below is a link to an Interesting CPTV documentary on the Yale-Georgia Football rivalry. At the conclusion there is talk of Yale playing Georgia again in 2029 to mark the 100th anniversary of the first game played at Sanford Stadium in 1929, which was Yale vs Georgia. I think its a great idea and it would undoubtedly get an NCAA waiver for bowl counter status due to its historical significance, just as the Army game in 2014 did.

I am having such a hard time trying to get info on incoming comments.? 247 is useless, Rivals.com etc….!!
Thanks, Son of Eli for the very interesting tape on the history of Yale vs Georgia. No pun intended, but I think we should let sleeping dogs lie. In the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s Yale and Georgia were playing by the same rules – no more, I’m afraid.
Looking at Georgia’s future schedules I see that Austin Peay and Murray St are playing Georgia. If those schools can do it I don’t see why Yale can’t. It would be a great experience for the Yale players to play between the hedges to a crowd of approximately 95,000. The game would give Yale a recruiting advantage in the Ivy League for years.

Can’t wait to hear the PA announcer pronounce that name. They will need to take an official’s timeout every time he makes a tackle just to pronounce the name!
So true .!!! LOL

Trenton Charles may be considering decommitting from Yale. He visited SMU this weekend.
https://247sports.com/college/southern-methodist/Bolt/SMU-to-host-Yale-running-back-commit-Trenton-Charles-on-official-visit-112262491
I posted this earlier, does anyone know what happened to Blake Horn, .? He was a junior and I thought a very good place kicker
Jon, with you on that, but no knowledge. He kicked and recovered the onside kick against Harvard in 2016, I believe. It was a perfectly executed and pivotal play! Maybe he took a year off? Except for privacy violations, I think the AD could be more forthcoming with their fans. Especially if they want to reverse declining attendance at games!
It’s possible Horn was simply beaten out by Alex Galland and, given that Galland is active through 2018, elected to focus on his studies.
Thank you Mr. Ableson, Mr. Skodol.
Where are the building blocks, the interior linemen?
La. Tech playing SMU tonight at 8:00 pm on ESPN. Trenton Charles will be on the sidelines.
DXL Frisch Bowl in Frisco TX.
All communiques we get from the football association or athletics are accompanied by a request for donations.
Normally that is the primary intent, even if there is a bit of news as an introduction.
….and if you hurry we’ll send you a hat!
A very nice 500 dollar hat. I do love hats, but.
Let’s hope Mr. Charles savored SMU’s 51-10 loss to the Louisiana Tech BULLDOGS.
Tony Reno has been nominated for Fan Choice FCS Coach of the Year. You can vote for Coach Reno using the link below. Let’s make sure Yale fans make our voices heard in this pole. Polling ends Friday.

27 votes for Reno…..I posted on my facebook, trying to get the word out.
Thanks Hawk. We at least want to beat Bagnoli in this poll for recruiting purposes. Currently Reno is ahead of Bagnoli 52 votes to 49.
Can’t find much info on him but WR Noah Aaron from Groton School has committed.
Just lost the OC to Fordham. Best of luck coach.
Conlan Left …!!! Ding Dong
Jon H, Coach Conlin was listed as the Offensive Coordinator as well as the Offensive Line Coach on Yale’s website. I am not sure how to interpret your “ding dong” comment. If I made a mistake, please let me know.
BW2 Ding Dong Fordham Calling…!! Good Luck , take care ..!! BW2 are you a sensitive person.? Get over yourself .
Cahill new OC
ADAM RAINE, DL, 6′ 4″, 265 LBS. BERKSHIRE SCHOOL, MASS. NEPSAC A DEFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE YEAR.
Kennedy Kosmalski, McHenry, sr., DB – Kosmalski (6-0, 175) did a little bit of everything for the Warriors, scoring seven touchdowns out of his 27 receptions, but also playing a big part in the defense, where he had five interceptions. He had two in one game, one of which he returned for a touchdown. Kosmalski will attend Yale on an academic scholarship and plans on playing football for the Bulldogs.
Losing Joe Conlin hurts but best wishes to him and many thanks for his major contributions in bringing the program back to the top. Does anybody know if other members of the staff have decided to join him at Fordham?
RAY:
Any recruiting news? We’ve got a lot of offers out there/
What I am picking up is that there are an unprecedented number of coaching movement this year which isn’t going to settle down until late February. Over 250 assistants may switch jobs at the various levels of college football. Many recruits are concerned and this has resulted in flips, poaching, and changed commitments. Actually this is an opportunity for Yale in my opinion if we limit our staff losses. A few recruits I know (not on Yale board) are concerned about “soft offers” due to coaching upheavals. They may not know their status until second (traditional) signing day in February.
If you want to have some fun and speculate take a look at some of the film available on our recruits by googling and going to huddle or 24/7. Example, look at Adam Raine, the English DT from Berkshire we apparently flipped from Holy Cross. I don’t know how the competition level translates but he looks disruptive to me.
So who is comin back for a 5 th year..?
Hi Jon,
Good question (especially as we count down to final commitments)! Anyone who has not taken a prior semester off (Nick Crowle?), has to be out this semester. So it should be available information. Some of the eligible players have great futures ahead of them in any event, so we should be grateful for all that they have done for Yale Football, helping to return the team to prominence, and wish them well no matter what.
CONOR SMITH, OL, 6′ 5″ , 260 LBS., RED BANK CATHOLIC H.S., RED BANK, NJ.
Ray thanks for posting about yales new recruit Conor Smith. Just looked at his tape. Well coached in pass blocking and run blocking.Has a mean physical way about playing football. Could see him starting his so.or jr. year. Would make a great guard.Has to put on some weight maybe 20 to 25 lb. Nice get for yale. Could be the sleeper in the class of recruits. Good luck to all the recruits and thanks for picking yale.Ray any word on recruits Alama Uluave andNicholas Sligh both centers .4
NICHOLAS SLIGH WILL VISIT YALE THE WEEKEND OF 1/19/2018 AND ALAMA ULUAVA WILL VISIT THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND.
Ray:
Do you know of any other pre-signing day recruit visits?
Cheers, L et V
ROBERT FRENCH, T/E, 6 ‘ , 5 ” , 230 lbs., BARTRAM H.S., JACKSONVILLE, FL. VISIT: JAN. 19, 2018
Jordon Colbert, DB from Gonzaga College High School is also visiting this week.
Guys any news on Alan Lamar and Grant Neagli are they could to go next year ? Are they working out with the team now. Anyone have any news.
I hope that DKE story that was all over the national news does not cause damage. The references to football players and the inclusion of the photo from this year’s Harvard game were low blows. I’m sure Tony and staff have a damage control plan.
My kid had to point it out to me. Hack job….Business insider, they should stick to reporting on BUSINESS
GOOD NEW !! TURF TO BE INSTALLED FOR THE FALL SEASON .
Now all we need are a bubble, a scoreboard, and special facilities for O.
Come on some real news please. ? .. what about a replacement for Paul Rice .
What happened with the visits with these recruits.
From this picture recently posted on Twitter it looks like Trenton Charles visited this weekend.
https://mobile.twitter.com/nicholas_sligh_/status/955563901160165378/photo/1
Alama Uluave is visiting Yale next weekend. He’s a 3 Star recruit rated the #7 prospect in Hawaii. He plays center and is 292lbs. Offers from Hawaii and San Diego St.
https://247sports.com/Article/Polynesian-Bowl-Three-star-OL-Alama-Uluave-focusing-on-San-Diego-State-and-Yale-113947660
Can anyone identify the gang in the picture Nicholas Sligh posted?
Do you we have a chance at landing one or both of these awesome centers!!?. How did the visit go with nick Sligh? I read he has preferred walk on offers with both ND and Georgia. Do we have a realistic chance of him landing in New Haven?
Sligh now has a ton of offers He said he had a great visit he was in the picture with the other recruits. San Diego St is pushing hard to recruit Alama he has friends on the team who play . Both could be long shots. If one or both come would be great for yale recruiting.
Nick Olsofka has decommitted from Yale
According to 247 Jack Biestak 6-3 205lbs WR from Cardinal Gibbins HS Raleigh NC. Committed to Yale today
Biestak also had an offer from Notre Dame to play Lacrosse. He will play both sports at Yale like Jason Alessi.
how did this weekend visit go with Alama Uluave?!!? I was hoping to hear that he committed before he left this weekend! Was in York Side and thought maybe one day his face would hang on the wall!
Appreciate any info!
Any news on 5 th Years coming back..? Throw a bone , come on
Miles Oldacre 5’10” 185lbs S Klein Oak HS Spring Tx 3 stars 247 sports
Miles Oldacre is ranked 75th in today’s Houston Chronicle’s top 100 recruiting list. He is listed as committed to Yale, and he is the only player on the list who is headed to a FCS school. Players ranked under Oldacre are going to Miami, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and Arizona among other FBS schools.
Elisha Guidry committed to UCLA
Kyle Ellis, DB/WR, 6’0, 182lbs, Altanta Christian High School. That should round out the 30 member recruiting class.
Henry Large, LB 6’0 210 lbs, out of St. Alban’s DC
#91, Nick Crowle is coming back for his 5th year.
Good news!
Moderater , could we get a new thread please.
This is a huge week for recruiting, in my opinion. There will be some pressure on some of our guys to flip as there will be a few new, solid offers from FBS and FCS scholarship schools with last minute scholarships available that were held for others. Princeton did a nice job holding on to their 4 star quarterback who got the last minute pressure from Alabama. He is the reason Princeton’s class is rated slightly higher than Yale’s. We have more 3 star recruits, and I’m wondering if this our highest rated class ever.
Anybody out there with the 2017 class composite numbers still available? Of course, national ratings really missed on Dudek…..to our good fortune.
YALE WINS ONE AND LOSES ONE. NICHOLAS SLIGH OL. 6 ‘ 3 ” AND 310 LBS, ATHENS CENTRAL H.S., GA. ON BOARD. PRUDY CALDERON DECOMMITS AND RE-COMMITS TO RICE.
Great commit from Nicholas Sligh. Should be a force in the middle of the OL. Too bad re Calderon. He looks like an excellent player.
Sligh looks tough and relentless on film……..but Calderon has game-changer speed and skill. Losing him hurt and we have to hope he is the only one.
Anybody know if we have any FBS transfers inbound?
I’ll take that trade.
Wow that’s fantastic. To bad Prudy wanted Rice . Instead of Prime Rib and Lobster at Yale.
Yale should schedule Rice for OOC game. Probably evenly matched.
Not evenly matched. Yale would embrass them.
As a Houstonian, I would love to see Yale play the Owls at Rice Stadium — or in the Bowl. But it isn’t going to happen. From Rice’s standpoint, the Owls would be looking at a small gate (maybe 20,000 in Houston or New Haven) against a program that wouldn’t give Rice a W for bowl purposes even if the Owls prevailed.
Vicki Chun needs to get the NCAA to change the bowl counter rule as it applies to the Ivy League.
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO IS THE RECRUIT FROM COLORADO (AREA CODE 719 ) ?
THANKX
Ray, how about Garry Raymond, 6’ 6” 215 lbs. TE/DE, Cheyenne Mountain HS, Colorado Springs, CO. From the Denver Post.
Not from Colorado, but we added Spencer Alston RB/WR from VA. Also plays lacrosse.
YIKES !! GARRY RAYMOND IS UBIQUITOUS . HE IS ABLE TO PERFORM BI-LOCATION. HE PLAYED T/E FOR BISHOP IRETON IN VA. AND SIMULTANEOUSLY PLAYED T/E FOR CHEYENNE H.S. IN COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO . WHAT POSSIBILITIES FOR THE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR AT YALE.
GARRY RAYMOND TIGHT END SCREEN PUT IT IN THE PLAY BOOK.
Who else is returning for a fifth year? Bezney? Graham? Williams-Lopez?
Heard Crowle is the only one
TWO NEW RECRUITS. THEY ARE:
GARRY RAYMOND T/E, 6′ 6″ , 238 LBS. CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN H.S., COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO
MATTHEW TYNES CB, 6′ 1″ 166 LBS. 4.55 40 , ST. MARK ‘ S HIGH SCHOOL , WILMINGTON, DELAWARE
The list is growing. Are there people on the list who are not intending to come or may spend a year at Choate?
I beleive the rules allow for more than 30 recruits in a year as long as the rolling four year average is 30 per season. Having said that, it is typical for 2-3 commits each season to end up at Choate for a post graduate year, aka Redshirt Freshman Ivy style.
????
Can anybody update us on the actual process of what constitutes a firm commit in this era? Do our recruits just have likely letters or is there something better that they can rely on, and what is the formal decision to matriculate they provide to Yale. Do they do that now or must it wait until April with the rest of their class.
By the way it looks like the staff has done a terrific job of addressing need due to graduations.
Really excited about this class..!! I look forward to the spring game.
Word is that the championship ring ceremony will be right after the spring game so it will be very special. Pass the word.
TO SON OF ELI , IF YOU CAN ONLY HAVE 120 IN A 4 YEAR PERIOD.
WHATS UP WITH COLUNBIA GETTING AROUND 40 COMMITD PER YEAR.?
If Coumbia takes 40 in a year then they will only have 80 spots for the next three years.
Yes but look at the body of football commits. Bagmolis 1st year he had 46 players. 38 this year.
Are they getting preferential treatment. Like Penn did in the early 80’s..?
Georgia is making a hard push for Nick Sligh, On Sunday they offered him PWO status again.
JON,
YOUR SOURCE , PLEASE.
247 sports Ben Simmons
Does anyone know what percentage of PWO play significant time for their teams? It seems to me to be a choice between playing a little and playing a lot, plus graduating with a Yale degree that provides the foundation for adapting to a changeable future and opens many doors.
The 43rd Ryder Cup Matches will be held in the United States from September 25 to 27, 2020, on the Straits course at Whistling Straits, Haven, Wisconsin. Team Europe is the reigning cup holder after its 17½–10½ victory over Team USA in 2018 at Le Golf National.
The Ryder Cup is scheduled for Sept. 25-27 at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wis., which is now the week before the rescheduled U.S. Open at Winged Foot on Sept. 17-20. Last month The Telegraph reported the Ryder Cup was expected to be postponed, but European captain Padraig Harrington contradicted that report, saying, “There’s no change to the situation at all at this stage. I know there’s been some rumors and things like that; they had to put out a statement that there’s no change, but there is definitely no change.”
