Fordham Notes

The Yale offense exploded on Saturday in a 48-24 win over Fordham.

Kurt Rawlings was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week after throwing for 301 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for another two touchdowns. Lamar was back in action rushing 11 times for 52 yards, while Dudek had 7 carries for 33 yards. Lamar and Dudek were also receiving threats out of the backfield combining for 5 receptions for 33 yards. The offensive line had their best showing of the year pushing around defenders in the running game and giving Rawlings ample time in the passing game. The receivers and tight ends were nothing short of dominant. Shohfi could not be contained hauling in 5 passes for 139 yards and a touchdown. Klubnik had 5 receptions for 96 yards, while Tipton and Roman each caught bombs from Rawlings good for 48 yards and 41 yards respectively. McCord, White and Herring were all solid in the second half.

Ifesinachukwu and Matthaei could not be blocked by the Rams’ offensive line. Conlin likely had a headache all day trying to figure out how to spring his stellar running back free against the Bulldogs’ stout front seven. Burke was back in action at linebacker and was outstanding with 6 tackles, 3 tackles for losses and a sack. Rodney Thomas has become the star of the defense in recent weeks with another strong showing. Thomas racked up 11 tackles, 3 tackles for losses, a sack, and a forced fumble. Ellis keeps improving by leaps and bounds each week. His interception for a touchdown in the second quarter put the Bulldogs ahead 45-10. There were a couple of mental errors in the secondary that led to wide open receivers streaking down the field, but it’s hard to complain after such a thorough beating of Fordham.

Sam Tuckerman had a nice showing in the kicking game. The areas of concern on special teams were the kickoff and punt coverages. Fordham’s kick returner had 5 returns for 150 yards including a 53 yarder.

This was exactly the type of momentum we needed heading into the toughest week of the season.

Yale certainly has the team this year To contend for an IVY championship. They really need to put forth a solid 60 minutes to beat Dartmouth
Should they win in Hanover I believe they will be on stoppable for the rest of the season and hopefully contend for an undefeated season
Let’s go Big bad blue let’s show the conference who we are

Read Bruce Woods , Blog BGA, Dartmouth is a 13 point favorite at home.
I have a good a feeling about this game. Go Bulldogs.!!!

This game will be won in the trenches. Last year we got manhandled on both sides of the line. This year will be a different story

What a difference a week makes.
Seven days ago, the sky was falling.
Today, I see the “C” word (championship) and even the “U” word (I dare not type it out fully) being thrown around the comments section.

Hopefully the Blue’s performance this weekend will warrant such comments. Frankly, I think this will be the toughest test of the season. Even the 2017 champions, who dispatched everyone else in their path, didn’t come home from Hanover with a “W.” And, I think it’s not a stretch to say that this year’s Big Green is better than that edition.

This week, we’ll find out if Team 147 “is who we thought they were.”

Yale will not be able to match Dartmouth size and speed on both sides of the ball. There QB is a killer there always in motion jet sweep is a nightmare for any defense.Only way yale wins this game is stoping there running game. an getting to there QB.Yale offense line not strong enough to handle Dartmouth D line and LB. Dartmouth offense line is the best in the league yale D line will have trouble with them. Im not running yale out of town but this is Dartmouth not Fordham.

Dartmouth O line is not the best in the league. That was last year. Dartmouth D is very solid. Their D line, LB and safeties may be best in league. But in watching their game vs Penn, their corners are average at best. Shofi and Klubnick should have big games this a Saturday.

Any inside info on why Rouse did not play. I did not see him in uniform, but could have missed him. Having Shohfi returning punts worries me because of the potential for injury and his importance to the offense. Not having Rouse weakens the secondary in my opinion.

Dartmouth offense line will have no trouble with Yales defense line they will double down the ends for big yardage .
