T minus 5 days

Get your Ziploc bags ready as the Bulldogs host the Holy Cross Crusaders in five days.

It should be a gorgeous day on Saturday with the weather forecasted to be sunny with a high of 81 degrees. If you can’t make it to the Bowl, you can watch the live stream on ESPN+.

As commenters have noted, Strother may be starting at center with Gargiulo filling his tackle position. It will be interesting to see what combination of linebackers and defensive backs hit the field first although we can expect a deep rotation of players across the board on defense.

Holy Cross is a formidable foe with two games under their belt, so the Bulldogs will need to shake off the rust quickly and keep the energy high for four quarters (plus overtime if recent history repeats itself). The second half meltdown against the Crusaders was one of the low points of 2018 and set the stage for an up and down season.

The Holy Cross Preview will be posted in the coming days. We are not posting the Keys to Victory this season as the entries typically become locker room fodder for opposing teams given the lack of media exposure.

Good for you not to post “Keys to Victory”! Reno has been often criticized for being secretive. Well, Bill Belichick is the most secretive coach in football, and he hasn’t done too badly. Food for thought.

Any way Sam Rubin, take care of this blog . Fix the Yale athletic web site. Which really sucks, since they upgraded.. LOL the site.
Vicky Chun, OMG Frank Ryan wanna be

I’ll say one thing if Yale loses . Reno and CHUN have Eggs all over they’re faces.
Does anyone know with the ESPN+ are you able to rewatvh the game.?

Ray:
Can you get us a depth chart? If not, how about a depth charge?
Many thanks for your informative posts.

Here is the 1st team offense from what I have seen this off-season. Doesn’t appear that we will be seeing anything official this year in regards to a depth chart.

66 Nick Gargiulo LT
72 Dieter Eiselen LG
74 Sterling Strother Center
78 Steven Cepalia RG
75 Cameron Warfield RT
6 Kurt Rawlings QB
33 Zane Dudek RB
80 JJ Howland TE
14 Reed Klubnik WR
88 JP Shohfi WR
82 Jaylan Sandifer WR

Boy things are bad at Yale this year . I here they cannot afford paper for the depth chart what a shame. To much money but into the new scoreboard that does not work. Get ready for a fun season.

Dear Men and Friends of Yale Football,

I hope that you all have had a great start to the fall season. We are excited to finally have our regular season underway this weekend at home against Holy Cross. It has been an incredible offseason and preseason for us, with preseason starting in November, when our players return to campus from Thanksgiving Break, until we broke camp this past Saturday. I have seen an incredible sense of intentionality and relationships each day with our team. We are strong believers that we have a football family that plays for each other, and a group of young men who have bonds with their teammates and coaches that’ll last a lifetime. We spend a great deal of time on forging those bonds and building relationships year-round. We are very fortunate to have an extraordinary senior class, led by our captain JP Shohfi and our off-season team leaders, Sterling Strother, Dieter Eiselen, Kurt Rawlings, Garrett White, Spencer Matthaei, Ryan Burke, Tosan Agbeyegbe, and Jaelin Alburg who, along with their classmates, have led team 147 each and every day. I am very proud of our junior and sophomore classes for pulling their weight in the boat and continuing to put themselves out there and putting their teammates first and themselves last, each and every day. This extraordinary leadership and alignment within our team has made this time period full of growth for us as a team. We still have a long way to go to realize our potential, but our shared consciousness of our standards, culture, and goals will give us the best chance for success. I’ve been very impressed with our freshman class, as they have come in ready to learn, not only our schemes but more importantly our culture, to become one within our football family. On Saturday, we will play a Holy Cross team that is coming off an outstanding win versus a perennial power, the University of New Hampshire. They opened their season at the Naval Academy, and moved the ball well against an FBS opponent. This Holy Cross team is unbelievably improved from the team they had last year, led by an outstanding offensive line and veteran backfield. They put pressure on defenses running and throwing the football. Holy Cross has a very active defense with an outstanding interior defensive lineman and veteran secondary. I hope many of you will be able to join us at the Yale Bowl this Saturday as we kick off the 147th season of football at Yale. We will also play our first game on our new field. I believe you will have the same reaction that we all did when we first saw it. It is an incredible surface and adds to our beautiful stadium. You will also notice construction on the scoreboard, as we will be adding a videoboard which will have capability later this fall. Thank you for all you do for Yale Football, attached is the weekend itinerary, I hope to see many of you on Saturday.

Roll Dogs,

Tony Reno

Thank You Tony, for your form greeting. I don’t about the rest of the Yale fans. but I feel like you took a die hard Yale fan and repeatedly kicked me in the groin until I was numb.
I feel like a red headed step child that gets shit ,while everyone else got treated with respect and consideration. you in fact threw the baby out with bath water.
I don’t wish you any ill will. but you took something very precious from me. fact is there aren’t to many of us around so tread lightly. embrace the people who do care about Yale sports. most could careless.

I have to proof read what I write.. Good Luck to you , staff and most of all the players..!!!

I don’t know which is worse – your language or your spelling or your bullying. Clearly you are not a Yale man. Yale is not a New Haven pro team – it is an elite academic institution known throughout the world for its excellence.

I beg your pardon. Madame. I didn’t mean to upset your delicate feelings.
I’m sorry for your problem . your chronic Rectal cranium inversion.
You will feel better when you pull it out. Breath deep

Gentlemen; to the blue faithful I guess it takes the heavenly skies and seas to part before we see the two depth chart. Apparently, even the tigers and cantabs. do not treasure so secretively this information.

JH, your one of the culprits (bitch, complain, bitch).
Closed practices – NO
2 scrimmages (big deal – vanilla O&D)
What does my son graduating this year have anything to do with your(and others) constant complaining
50 yard line?? What is this the superbowl…it’s not too hard to get good seats in a 60K seat stadium (bitching again?)

You don’t get. I’m voicing my displeasure. Great way to cultivate a fan base. Look Hawk I was raised on this. For Reno to close access to the program.sucks.
