Under two weeks to kickoff

Congrats to Jaeden Graham and Foye Oluokun on making the Atlanta Falcons’ 53 man roster. We wish them both luck in their opener at the Minnesota Vikings.

Yale’s first opponent, Holy Cross, beat UNH to even their record to 1-1. The Crusaders were routed in their first contest versus Navy 45-7. Navy’s offense exploited Holy Cross’ lack of defensive containment with a punishing array of outside runs.

It’s evident that the wide receivers and linebackers have been the stars of preseason camp for the Bulldogs as they have racked up numerous Dog of the Day nods on Yale’s Twitter feed.

Our contributors did not view the scrimmage, so we’d love to hear insights from those in attendance in the comments section. The closed practices have limited the flow of information, but that will all change shortly.

Yale hosts Holy Cross on September 21st at the Bowl. Kickoff is slated for 1PM and ESPN+ will be streaming the game.

gentlemen; the natives are restless about information about our blue squad and the tom toms are regrettably silent. mr. jh is on the warpath and rightfully so.

Gentlemen, the natives are a bunch of whiners, and Jon H wants us to play UConn and leave the Ivy League!

As an attendee of the 1st half of the brown scrimmage I can attest that the old blue did very well. It was a defensive battle mostly, as the Yale defense held brown to negative yardage in the first half (when all of the starters played) Oso I., soph defensive end had several tackles for loss, and the secondary produced several batted passes, no interceptions however. The Yale offense did well, but only ran a few basic, rudimentary plays. The Yale special teams unit was performing well, as a kickoff was fielded for a touchdown by Trenton C., soph tail back. To make this feat even more impressive, mr. Charles was not touched by a Brown player during the play. The field goal unit did miss a field goal, however it was %100 on all extra points. This team reminds me a lot of the 2017 team: very strong defense that can produce impact plays and physical, run heavy offense that can get yards in huge chunks by air or ground. The starting rosters for the scrimmage were as follows (keep in mind that reno was likely resting some key players)

QB kurt Rawlings
RB spencer Alston
TE Sasha Hoban
WR Reid Klubnik
WR Mason Tipton
WR Caden Herring
LT Nick Garguilo
LG Dieter Eilsen
C Jacob Hinish
RG Steve Cepailia
RT Cam Warfield

DE Oso ifensirachu
DT Spencer Matthae
DT Tate Goodyear
DE Charles Callender
LB Ryan Burke
LB John Dean
LB Brendan Macphee
CB Deonte Henson
CB Melvin Rouse
FS Malcolm Dixon
SS Dathan Hickey

Sounds like the same old offense then why close the practices. Same old story they throw you a bone and let you hang. Where the two back set they where going to run, same old crap,For get about a new scoreboard Yale is doing a half ass job about that to.

Scoreboard is under construction right now, will be ready in time for Holy cross. Yale was likely running it’s basic offense in this scrimmage in order to acclimate the freshmen, etc. We will likely see a more complex offensive scheme next week in the 3rd preseason scrimmage. I can recall over the summer after having a conversation with Cahill (offensive coordinator) at a meet and greet that this new offense would include several new and dynamic formations ie: tight ends in the backfield on long 3rd and 4th downs to assist with pass blocking, running backs in the slot with matchups on linebackers, and two back, run pass option sets. very patriots-esque.

Yale was not going to show anything to Brown in a scrimmage. This was all about execution, staying healthy and getting the younger guys some work. This offense will be dynamic this year with all the weapons they have. The Defensive Line should also be much improved. Hearing Goodyear, Osa, and Nauert have all been impressive. Secondary play will be key to another title run.

gentlemen; i could not help but notice mr. rouse was listed as a cornerback has he switched from wide reciever and mr. hinish and mr. cepailia have swapped the guard and center position?

Check out espn.com. It lists the best 150 teams in college football’s 150 years, and Yale has five of them! Only other Ivy mentioned is one for Princeton.

Looking at the players that started it sure seems like we maybe hiding injuries. Hope it is not true but who on this board knows?

I am not stuttering with the duel messages above. The CAPTCHA was incomprehensible. The math symbols in the equation were so small they answer had to be guessed rather than calculated.

I appreciate anything Yale Football but this is seriously lacking . Not user. Friendly, Lacking in real information.. I see Go lions. Jake Novacs blog for Comumbia. Bruce Woods BGA for Dartmouth. Princeton also is pretty good. The student newspaper for Penn. Does a great job.
SO WHY CANT YALE DO SO AS WELL.? COME ON MANN !!!!

According to today’s YDN, Chun says the new video scoreboard won’t be completed by the HC game but is expected to be ready before the Harvard game. Is the dismal average attendance at the Bowl one of the reasons for not placing a high priority on having it ready for the start of the season?

Why shoot for the best, when mediocre will do. As said before shes no Tom Beckett…
Can anyone tell us if Yale will JV games this year..?

How could you possibly not have the scoreboard ready for the season? I am in manufacturing designing and filling orders for many demanding customers. Not having the scoreboard close to being ready by first game day means they do not care about their customers. The customers are us! The people at Yale responsible for this fiasco would not survive long in the business world.

The article says a modified scoreboard will have time clock and score in the meantime. I hope it will also have downs and yards to go. If not people may chose to just stay home and watch the games on tv.

Planning and implementation seem to have been below the standards of an elite institution. Not caring enough about meeting a season opening deadline reflects not only on the AD’s office but the Coach as well. Work in progress causing an improvised score board that doesn’t have downs and yards would be pitiful.

I always took pride in completing deadlines unlike this administration. Tells a lot about the character and backbone of the people.
So far not impressed at all. I hear a lot of talk. But thays about it. You know what they say ( talk is cheap results and actions speak volumes

It’s Mitchell Tyler, and yes it’s pathetic the new scoreboard isn’t ready for Holy Cross. Then again, we were a year late on the turf.

Well no scoreboard what else is new. I told everyone on this blog this was going to happen three weeks ago.Vicky Chun did a terrible job with this,All Yale is doing is putting a bandaid on to stop the bleeding. The old scoreboard should have been blow up and taken down.Every one going to the game next weekend do this take a look at Reese Stadium and there video screen thats how it should be done. Not that piece of crap Vicky Chun is putting up. Also if your at the other end of the bowl watching the game the screen is to small you cannot see the plays. What a bunch of horse shit,To all of you old timers who parked on central ave lot b for handicap parking like me Yale screwed us again. They moved us to the other side of yale bowl on the chapel st side what a disappointment. again horse shit. That was the best place we ever had. We all went to the PLR tent ate some food talked football and went to the game. Thats all over now.To far to walkIf you had a walker your done for . And you know what there doing with that lot there charging 2o dollars to park there now More horse shit. YALE SUCKS.

6 days till kickoff, no video scoreboard. Be ready for the Harvard game. What a shame. What amazes me is that. Its not a problem.? Seems like Yale is gouging the Yale fan base. Oh now you can’t go back to your car in case you forget something.because tberr is no reentry. Diaper bag for the kid or medication. Pathetic Vicky Chum you stink.!!!

Yale is not allowing a group of football alumni and friends to erect a memorial statue of Carmen Cozza outside the Bowl, even though it would be at no expense to the University. Meanwhile, for the past several years, Yale has displayed a rather homely statue of a bulldog, presumably in the likeness of the original Yale mascot.

Following his distinguished coaching career, Carm was instrumental in fundraising to make necessary repairs to reverse the damage caused to the Bowl after years of neglect. Is this his reward?

Poor Carm must be turning over in his grave!

What is Yale doing with all these new laws about bringing things into the bowl. If thats the way there going then the bowl will be empty every sat, SHAME ON THEM they have taken the fun out watching Yale football, I for one will be looking for other teams to watch.

Will the last Yale Football fan please turn out the lights when they leave? VC doesn’t realize the impact her new anti-fan policies will have on an already shrinking fan base. Its a shame. I encourage everyone to email her Vicky Chun and let her know how you feel.

Thank you BW2 , I will send every day. Vicky Chun, please before you implement any other policies, please talk to someone who has been around for a while.
After all tbis ain’t Colgate, Boston, New York or Philadelphia. New Haven is a blue collar town. Remember that
