Boola Boola

Yale remains as the winningest FCS program in history with a whopping 907 wins since play began in 1872. Harvard trails Yale by 32 wins, while Penn, Princeton and Dartmouth also appear in the NCAA’s Top 9 list: https://www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2019-07-22/9-winningest-fcs-teams-college-football-history

We are under two months to kickoff versus Holy Cross. This will be an early test for the defense particularly the defensive line and secondary as these units struggled down the stretch in the Crusaders’ stunning comeback last season. The first three contests will be at home (versus Holy Cross, Cornell and Fordham), before the Bulldogs hit the road for Hanover in Week 4 for what should be a highly anticipated game against the Big Green. Week 5 offers a unique challenge as Yale heads to Richmond to face a very talented and physical squad. Heading into the brunt of the Ivy League schedule in Week 6, we should have a clear understanding of this Yale team’s toughness.

You guys are just as bad. You don’t LISTEN.. ? What the fan base is asking for. ..!!!!
What about the New Field Turf, at the Bowl..!!what about the bios , for the new players.?

I am relieved we’ve finally secured an Associate Athletics Director for Strategic Communications, but how about tactical communications? I feel we may be exposed on that front. Then we’ll need someone to mediate between the two.
Such a crock.
Our athletics department is in the hands of a bloodless automaton and an expanding mob of second rate administrators with third rate degrees from fourth rate institutions who know nothing about the Ivy League and less about Yale..
Not to be elitist, but how about some folks with Yale IQs, Yale flair and devotion to Yale.
Tom Beckett was adored. What now?

Trying to get football ticket information. Is anyone answering the phones at the ticket office? Phone either rings to message, or someone hangs up.
What is happening there? The operation seems in disarray.

Have we recruited JACOB SAFFOLD, a three star (0.8315 rating) 5′ 10″ 190 lb RB from Norfolk, VA? Offers from all the Ivies plus Temple.

Why is it that our 247 rated recruits do not show up on our list, when other Ivy recruits are recorded within 24 hours? It looks like Harvard and Princeton are cleaning up, but
May not have that big an advantage. The advantage feeds on itself and probably increases future recruitment.

By the way, thankfully the SID posted the bios of the incoming football class. A very accomplished group about whom we should be proud. Were we the last Ivy School to do this?

Now what about replacing that STUPID… CHEAP … SCOREBOARD…? Put a state of the art scoreboard up . In its place.. stop doing things half assed..?

YALE RECRUIT :

ZION DAYNE , D/ E , 6 ‘ 3 ” , 240 LBS. 4. 6 40 , SOUTH COUNTY H.S., LORTON,, VA. OFFERED BY AIR FORCE , ARMY , ETC.

The new roster is not posted although the players who have left the team have been removed. The incoming freshmen class was only up on the football section of the athletic site for less than a week and it has in fact been taken down.
What is going on? Experience tells us that this staff keeps information close to the vest but this is very strange.

YALE RECRUIT :

DEAN SHAFFER , LB , 6 ‘ 1 ” , 230 LBS. SMITHTOWN EAST HS.,
L .I. , N Y.

Why won’t one of the “Former Bulldogs” start a running tally of 2020 recruits? Shouldn’t be that challenging or time consuming. Everyone else is.

That is what I have found, These young men are BALLERS….!!!! Looking very impressive so far

Could someone tell me why Wande Owens a great running with 6.361 yards rushing is playing defense. Come on coaches get your heads out of the sand. This young man should be playing offense.

Cozza, always put the better athletes on defense. Wait for camp to open. To see what happens.?

Not in ‘68. Dowling, Hill, Weinstein on o – JP Goldsmith and Ed Franklin on d. Best athletes were on the sidelines during the final minutes horror show at Harvard Stadium.. Murphy, Bagnoli, or Blackman would have made adjustments.

Maybe I’m a “glass half-full” type of guy, but I have been attending Yale games since 1958 and I am cautiously optimistic about Bulldog football this year and going forward. You must admit we have seen real progress in other programs — hockey, lacrosse, baseball, basketball — after years in the doldrums, and facilities upgrades are ongoing. I think it’s football’s turn to bring in some blue-chippers.

I started paying attention to Yale Football In 1968 , Thr Days of yore, I still feel that Yale made a big Mistake. By staying in the Ivy League. I Still feel they should be independent. Play Stanford, Duke, Syracuse etc… with a possibility of going ACC or Big Ten. Who I feel would jump to get Yale in their Conference.

Im with you john get out of the ivy league go independent. The bowl would be filled every sat. Big teams would love to play Yale just like the old days.It would take yale 5 or 6 years to bring in talent to match the other teams. Also we have to hire a top notch coach to run the show. I would love to see this happen but we can only dream.

YALE RECRUIT:

SHAMUS FLORIO K , P , 6 ‘ 1 ” , 190 LBS. , ANDOVER H.S. , ANDOVER , MASS.

Now you have to pay for the kids.. Come on YALE..!!! What happened to the 12 and under are free..
who ever came up with that, Families, won’t be bothered. My 6 year old Grandson won’t sit still. Will want to go home at halftime..

New recruit Ryan Belk little light for DE .would be a nice WR tall needs more weight.

Anybody go to the golf tournament who can give a report, particularly on coaches remarks?

I heard quite a few regulars did not attend, overall participation down.

Hope the Yale coaches take a long look at Zion Dayne recruit tape the kid can play. He should play either outside LB or middle LB. Strong tough kid. Nice get for Yale.

Given Dayne’s size, strength and speed (4.6 forty), not to mention his father’s prowess, I’d hand him the ball a few times and see what happens. He might be a fabulous weapon as a blocking back and a ball carrier.

Thats a good idea. great size for a running back or fullback good speed. Are coaches do not think outside the box. Would be nice to see.

Incoming class has been integrated into the roster (with #s, bios). All 30 present and accounted for. Maybe one surprise (?); Nick Henkel is back on the roster. I wonder how much of the annual intrigue has more to do with whoever is responsible for the website vs. anything substantive. I wish I knew.

YALE RECRUIT :

KIRAN AMEGADJIE , OL , 6 ‘ 5″ , 260 LBS., HINSDALE CENTRAL H.S., HINSDALE , IL

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this group of young men. They may not be highly ranked , I am looking forward to seeing them real soon.. already half of the slots are filled for 2020.
Thanks Ray, hope you’re doing well.

Here’s my question, how can Patrick Nauert, be a Freshman. When he played 2017 and 2018 at USAFA…?

Hooray!
And if we do have a new scoreboard let’s make damn sure the first touchdown and the first victory belong to us. Nothing else will do!

Amendment by 9:06 AM: Make that the first score of any variety, plus the first TD and the first win.

CODY ARLEDGE IS NOW THE CHIEF OF FOOTBALL OPERATIONS AT YALE. BOOLA BOOLA !

Any reactions to Yale being picked first in the Ivy League by the media? I was shocked after last year’s #1 pick ending in a disastrous season. Where are the trolls that insist Yale gets out-recruited by Princeton, Dartmouth and Harvard?

We the trolls say it comes down to defense. Not worried about our offense should be great. If reno keeps his word and puts a new wrinkle in here or there this offense could be the best in the league. But if the defense backs do what they did last year game over. With Jordan Stevens back coaching the defense line that along may help the DB. Walt Yale Blue.

gentlemen; subtle sugestions by coach reno about playing our blue squad members on defense according to their skill sets may lead one to belive there will be another steady diet of change your partners according to down and yardage. i do agree coach stevens defensive line assignment is a welcome sight in an area where there is a need for drastic improvement.

YALE RECRUIT:
,
EJIRO EGODOGDARE , DL , 6 ‘ , 3 ” , 270 LBS. ROXBURY LATIN H.S. , MILTON , MASS.

Took him right outta the Yaad of Hahvad.. Massachusetts has been very good to Yale this summer..

Beginning to think 247 is way overrated. Thank Goodness for Hudl. To be able to watch these young men play.
Michael Leone, for one not speck on him from 247. The same with Egodogbare. These are men playing against boys.
Yale already has half of their allotment for next year. I have never seen that before. I just hope that they will stay as Yale Bulldogs.
What a great job to all who have done , to make this happen. Keep it up. Here’s to the first undefeated Yale Football season since 1960.!!
May I see it in my lifetime 59 years is to long!!!! 10-0.!!!

247 ratings are not as significant a factor at the Ivy League level as they are at a Power 5. The “scouts” often do not even look at a player or his film, but give him a rating based off a single interview or offer without any verification. There have been many instances of kids creating fake players and the fakes received a .83333 3-star rating. Also, there have been many instances of a kids 247 rating dropping if a he commits to an FCS school. The truth is these websites spend their time and energy on the 4 and 5 star players and the 2 and 3 ratings most of our players receive are either too high, or in most cases, too low. It is much better to watch a players film than to look at the rating of a player. Foye Oluokun and Rawlings are 2 great players who were not ranked and there are many many more

I wish Yale , would do a few things . Start the season earlier, add and additional game or 2. To their schedule. In doing those 2 things.
Yale , to secede from the Ivies and go independent. Build up the schedule, to include the service Academies, Northwestern, Stanford , California Berkeley, Duke and Beat On Notre Dame like a drum..!!! To see this would be stupendous..!!
A boost to the local economy and bring the college football Hall of Fame to its proper place in New Haven. .
Yale , could be so much more than , what it has become. Do so much more for New Haven than what it has . Just by having a vision and gumption.

I think you would be much happier rooting for a Michigan or Clemson. The vast majority of Yale grads would much prefer to stay in the Ivy Leage.

Let’s get it straight..!! It’s the the community that supports and shows up on a regular basis. Not just once every 2 years to say you attended a social event .Harvard. Game . That the alumni may watch for a quarter.
Not to mention to make New Haven a better place . Did you know Yale had a beer garden, a small zoo.? Back in the day.
When the alumni actually gave a crap about New haven . I’ll take the townspeople and New Haven county , Fairfield, Middlesex county. Over a bloated overstated alumni. That makes a selfish unthoughtful statement any day

A word of caution about recruits from the ISL (independent school league). It’s not now, never was, and never will be a powerhouse league. Yes, there are a few teams in the ISL with three and occasionally even four star recruits. Roxbury Latin is generally not among them. Linemen weighing over 250 pounds usually have an easy time in the ISL, particularly against the weaker teams and everyone is aware of them. However, ISL dominance does not necessarily translate into Ivy League dominance where sheer bulk is never enough. I hope we’ve unearthed a diamond in the rough, but the absence of offers from our competition makes me wonder. That said, I’d be delighted to be proved wrong.
I’d suggest a year of seasoning and stiffer competition at Choate, but someone coming from Roxbury Latin probably’s already got the necessary grades and test scores.
