Crowle Elected Captain, Yale Scrimmages in Bowl

Nicholas Crowle, a 5th year Senior from Milford, was named the next Captain of Yale football in the wake of Mullen’s departure.  Crowle has been a key member of the defensive line over the last four seasons, but often was sidelined with injuries.  The Political Science major from Stiles is poised to lead the Bulldogs in their defense of the Ivy league title in 2018.  Congrats to Nicholas!

The Bulldogs held a Blue-White scrimmage on Saturday at the Bowl.  Steve Conn wrote a very informative write-up on the event on Yale’s official athletic website.  Notable performers included Rawlings, Dudek, Lamar, Pope, Charles, Shohfi, Carrington, Abraham and Howland.  As many have pointed out on this blog, the playing surface should have been in better shape to begin the season.  The last year of natural grass in the Bowl could turn into a muddy mess.

The Bulldogs will head to Providence next Saturday for a scrimmage against the Brown Bears.

The starting oline at the scrimmage was Gargliulo at left tackle Eisilen left guard Cepalia at center Tribble right guard and right tackle Lee. Have no idea what that means for Strother

As long as everyone on the line stays healthy Sterling starts at Left Tackle. As we have seen in the past Strother has the ability to play many position’s and my guess is the coaching staff is trying to see who would backup Sterling if the need was to move him. Dieter actually had a minor injury at the scrimmage and Sterling played guard for the balance of the game. Still a lot of time before the first game but right now from left to right is Sterling, Eisilen, Cepalia , Tribble , Lee. Gargliula and Warfield could factor in if the injury bug hits.

Parents have been told multiple times that the last two scrimmages are closed. Have no idea if you can sneak in or not but getting on a list might be tough.

The lawn maintenance crew seems to be having a hard time gaining entrance to the Yale Bowl too.

Hooray for you, “3 Yards…” I totally dig your message and nom de plume. Keep it up!

What is really sad about the condition of the Yale Bowl turf is that there are experts employed by Yale at the golf course just 3 miles away who could have been placed in charge of the year round health of the turf. Somebody with authority should have made that happen.
Second, the money was there to put in the synthetic turf field promised to the players and coaches for this season. Again, nobody took responsibility for getting the necessary permits in time from the municipal officials.
