Reno bought a lot of good will with the win over Harvard, but he’s still the same old Reno. Can’t coach the dbacks to turn around and look for the ball, has a very predictable offense (one time today we ran the same play off right tackle three times in a row), and never seems to make the right adjustments at half time.
Yale beat three mediocre teams and then played a good first half against a good team, but the wheels came off in the second half. Why? In my opinion, Reno is in over his head.
He played way to close to the vest, in the 2nd half. Almost a prevent offense. Trying not to lose,Conlon has over stayed his time, Yale needs to get rid of him, They need a DB coach with sound fundamentals basics. A QB coach who kno s how to be patient an teach a young QB through the game. Rawlings’s is great QB, he ties way to hard an was forcing the ball today.!! 6 games left , get over this and get ready to play Holy Cross. Still Bulldog proud
Another perspective: Dartmouth is mostly a senior team, with juniors filling in. Yale must rely on a lot of sophomores and freshmen. When you think of Yale’s great teams over the past sixty years – ’56, ’60 (unbeaten but without a victory as a freshman team!), ’68, ’81 – they were all largely senior teams. This game had Yale well ahead statistically against arguably the best team in the Ivies. Gives us some things to hope for. I agree, though, about the “playing not to lose” theory in the second half. Cornell is no longer”mediocre”.
A bad loss. I’m glad that they are OOC next week in case there is a hangover from losing a game they had no business losing.
On the other hand, it’s obvious that Yale has the talent to have a good chance to win every game they play. They mostly played well today and were one play away from winning more than once. Those plays went against us. Some our own fault (penalties), some good plays by Dartmouth.
Dartmouth will not go undefeated so if Yale takes care of business they still have a shot.
I agree bulldog10jw, what bothers me the most is the officiating of the Ivy League League officials.?!!! Grahams toe was in.!!
I have no idea where they get these guys from. But they are consistently horrible. They have the technology,, to include instant replay and have these officials have more grainy. So they have such an impact on games,it’s time to start the season a week earlier . Add an 11th game, Its time Ivy League, its time time.!!
These officials need more extensive training, so that it makes it a more enjoyable and accurate account instead of these boneheaded outcomes. They are the laughing stock of The NCAA
Bad beat yesterday for sure. Hopefully Team 145 and its coaching staff can learn from it and move forward. Playing a OOC game this week certainly helps. No doubt Reno was put on tilt in the second half. If he’s smart he will own this loss and move forward. Agree, I don’t see Dartmouth or Columbia running the table this year. Keep grinding Blue !!!!
