Grinde Will Return to Yale

As the Great Falls Tribune reported, Andrew Grinde will be suiting up for the Bulldogs next season.  Grinde has shed some pounds and feels more agile than ever.  He will join a talented position group led by Alan Lamar and Deshawn Salter.  With incoming recruits such as Zane Dudek and Michael Purvey, the running back position is likely the second most talented group behind the receiving corps.  Yale continues to add weapons to help take the pressure off Rawlings, but as always, the success will largely depend on the play of the offensive line.

The article mentioned Grinde dropping a few pounds and I’m curious if Salter dropped any weight this offseason. He didn’t seem to be as explosive as a Junior with the added weight on his frame. The same could be said for Oluokun as well.

Last month, during his annual visit to Houston, Coach Renovsaid that Foye Oluokun would be playing this fall.

THE 2 PLAYERS HAVE HAD MEDICAL RED-SHIRTS. THEY WILL BE BACK THIS FALL.

At the moment we have two inconsistent online rosters, one of which has not been purged of 2017 graduates and includes Oluokun and Rymiszewski.

THE ROSTER FOR 2017 THAT IS ONLINE IS JUST A REHASH OF THE 2016 ROSTER WITH THE SENIORS REMOVED. IT IS A POOR EXAMPLE FOR THE 2017 SQUAD. THE WEIGHTS ARE THE SAME AS THE 2016 ROSTER. IT IS SLOPPY WORK.

INFORMATION FROM ON HIGH:
THE RECRUITING LIST WILL BE RELEASED AFTER IT IS DETERMINED AS TO WHETHER A TRANSFER ( LB FROM A D-1 SCHOOL ) IS ACADEMICALLY QUALIFIED . ALSO, RETURNING ARE COPACHE TYLER AND BRIAN SYKES. OBSERVED TODAY AT YALE CAMP A VERY TALENTED OL ( 6′ 5″, 270 LBS. ) FROM ACC COUNTRY. HE WAS OFFERED.

Once again, thank you, Ray. I wondered whether it might be good news that was contributing to the delay.

Please…. I think that Ray had it right. Check out the Harvard roster (with the new recruits
AND their bios posted on May 1). Are we still competing for recruits with them?

Ray,

what is the name of the olinemen for acc country?
also, what school is this potential LB transfer from?

Thanks for all the great info Ray!

also, any word on a possible night game at the bowl this season?

I WILL NOT PROVIDE NAMES OR SCHOOLS UNLESS IT APPEARS ON THE INTERNET OR A COACH STATES THAT IT IS OKAY. IN MY OPINION THE INFORMATION THAT I RECEIVED YESTERDAY WAS CONFIDENTIAL.

Ray, you are handling this perfectly.
For the record, there’s even less info available about heavyweight crew. We shouldn’t expect to see a roster including 2017 freshman (and purged of 2017 graduates) until 2018. A national championship and three 1V wins over H this spring do provide a measure of consolation.

Why can’t they list the players who are in, and add any transfers as they qualify for admissions. Is there any rule that makes a published list unchangeable?

Ray:
Here’s hoping you can come up with some intel at this weekend’s prospects camp. Among other things, I’d be interested in hearing whether the camp draws a strong turnout.

Gerber sounds excellent. Have the rating services made any pronouncements on him?
Also, the newspaper article said he “led the county [alas not “country”] in total tackles each of the past two seasons.”
But maybe it was the country as well. We can hope.

Here is my take at Yale’s starting line-ups. Would be interested to know other’s opinions, especially at offensive line and tight end. In addition to Awodiran, I think Jost, Sampleton and Roman have the best chances as Freshman to break into these starting line-up’s

Offense
WR Bo Hines
WR Christopher Williams-Lopez
WR Reed Klubnick
TE John Lager
OL Jon Bezney
OL Jeho Chang
C Karl Marback
OL Sterling Strother
OL Dieter Eiselen
QB Kurt Rawlings
PK Alex Galland

Defense
DE Kyle Mullin
DT Nicholas Crowle
DT Copache Tyler
DE John Herubin
LB Matthew Opplinger
LB Micah Awordiran
LB Quinten Herbert
CB Spencer Rymiszewski
CB Jason Alessi
SS Foyesade Oluokun
FS Hayden Carlson
P Alex Galland

I WOULD PUT JULIAN FRASER IN THE MIX AS A DL. ALSO, I AM DUBIOUS ABOUT STARTING MICAH AWODIRAN STARTING AT A LINEBACKER SLOT. HE HAS NO EXPERIENCE NOW.
BTW, I WAS UNABLE TO TO ATTEND ANY OF THE YALE FOOTBALL CAMPS THIS WEEKEND OWING TO A FAMILY MEDICAL PROBLEM.

Who would be your 3rd starting LB then Ray? I would definitely have Fraser in the two deep.

I believe Coach Reno indicated to our group in Houston last month that Foye Oluokun might Play LB this season.

I will defer to Ray for his knowledge about Yale football, but I would nominate Ryan Burke. First team Trinity League All-Star in SoCal (the highest rated league in the US by MaxPreps in 2016). He had 8-3-11 vs Colgate as a freshman (1st game) and then kind of disappeared for the rest of the season (although his bio says he played in 6 games). Anyway, he was a top recruit and should be the type of player that Yale developes into All Ivy.

Jaylan Sandifer and Noah Pope didn’t make it. Class still has 5 incoming LB’s so we should be good there.

Net- net, we lost five stars: Sandifer (3) and Pope (2). Will either of them be playing against us?
If you’re counting stars, that puts us well behind last year’s class.
Any news about the D-l linebacker transfer?
Or offers made at last weekend’s camp?
