Spring Game Notes

It was a short and sweet Spring Game this year, but the progress this offseason has been encouraging to say the least.  The standout units on Saturday were the defensive backs and defensive line, while the special teams left much to be desired (with a starting punter/kicker out this was expected).  The offensive line that appeared to be coming together well just weeks ago was hit with injuries as Strother was seen on crutches and the unit struggled at times containing the rush.

Rawlings, Moore and Chapple looked light years ahead of where they were during preseason, although we do not anticipate Reno conducting a lengthy QB battle as we witnessed last year.  This might be one of Yale’s deepest receiving corps in years with Williams-Lopez, Hines, Klubnick, Siragusa, Drwal, Shohfi, Locke, Marcinick, Herring and others.  The most interesting position battles in preseason might be for the starting WR slots.

Copache Tyler was seen on the sidelines and it certainly does not appear that he will be transferring to Northwestern as one poster suggested.

It was nice to see Bezney, Hines and Siragusa bounce back from their injuries from last season and each player should be a key contributor on the 2017 squad.

IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO ASCERTAIN WHO WILL REPLACE JACK LEE AT RIGHT TACKLE. WHAT INJURIES DID JETT SEXTON , LUCAS TRIBBLE , AND SEAN KISSEL SUSTAIN THAT SIDELINED THEM FOR THE SPRING SEASON ? IS STEVE CEPALIA STILL ON THE SQUAD . HOPEFULLY. N. CROWLE WILL BE ABLE TO PL,AY IN 2017 . ANY GUESSES AS TO HOW MANY RECRUITS WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN MAY ? BYW, WHAT ABOUT ANDREW GRINDE ?

Sexton-back issues
Tribble-shoulder surgery
Lee could be replaced by Bezny with Huiezenga moving up at guard or Sexton could step up or someone unnamed might yet take the spot.

Can we get reports on the status of players, including those mentioned by Ray, who
Did not participate in Spring practice? Thank you

Reading that list of WR’s… listen, this is the best group of receivers in Yale history. Yes, there have been superstars like BD’s go-to guy Weinstein, Fencik, Eric Johnson, and those of the Sidlecki era, but the current depth is unmatched.

More from history: John Spagnola, Kevin Moriarity… as I said, the list goes on, but what a collection we have in 2017.

NESCAP HAS ELIMINATED THEIR FALL SCRIMMAGE AND HAS GONE TO 9 GAMES. MAYBE THE IVY LEAGUE COULD ELIMINATE THEIR FALL SCRIMMAGE AND SCHEDULE AN 11th GAME.

Adding to the list of great Yale receivers, Curt Grieve and Chandler Henley

Don’t forget Grant Wallace and Deion Randall on the great receivers list. Also Alex Smith. He made on of the best catches I’ve ever seen in Yale’s win against Cal Poly in 2013.

Any word on announcement of recruits? The last list posted here had 31 names.

IT MAYBE SOMEWHAT LONGER BEFORE THE LIST IS PUBLISHED.
IT SEEMS A FEW RECRUITS ARE WAFFLING. BTW, ANDREW GRINDE IS RETURNING TO YALE. IT IS LIKELY HE WILL PLAY.

Hi Ray, who is waffling and how do you know? Hasn’t the date for acceptance of admission passed (May 1)? Isn’t this intrigue exciting (not)! Thanks for being one of our best fans!!

Grinde returning should push Lamar and Salter to step it up. Competition is good.

FELLAS,

HOW ABOUT PROVIDING SOME ASSISTANCE CONCERNING THE FOOTBALL COMMITMENTS. I AM BEING STONEWALLED.
THANKX.

I’m assuming the announcement delay is not due to negligence but to a last ditch effort to get some key recruits on board. If waiting to finalize the recruiting class gets Yale a better class of incoming recruits then I can be patient.

How does one get into Yale after the acceptance of admission deadline has passed?

Someone can always back out of attending after they’ve gained acceptance. I’m guessing someone is on the fence. There must be a logical reason for the delay.

On the fence, but not on the Yale fence. Release the list of the still-committed.
If Ray can’t get the answer, something’s seriously adrift.

Just a guess but the staff is short handed and the roster hasn’t been updated yet?

The incoming class was asked to confirm everything on their Bio yesterday so we should see something soon,

IT SEEMS THAT DEMANI HANSFORD HAS DECOMMITED FROM YALE AND INSTEAD IS GOING TO THE AIR FORCE ACADEMY.

So, where is the list? Harvard has their list and bios published on May 1 (acceptance declaration date) and we are now at May 31? Staff is short handed or short sighted?
