Blue-White Game this Saturday at 1:30

The annual Spring game will be held this Saturday at 1:30 PM at the Class of 1954 Field.  Those who have attended practices have mentioned that the O Line appears to developing nicely with Strother and Eiselen holding down the left side, Marback at Center, and Bezney and Lee manning the right side.  Jaeden Graham and Conor Furey are competing for the starting TE role.  Timing between the QB’s and WR’s has improved tremendously this offseason.

Yale announced that Paul Rice has taken over coaching duties for the defensive backs and oft-criticized Steven Vashel will now be coaching the OLB’s.  This is a smart move for Reno as the defensive backfield is loaded with experience, but has yet to become dominant against great passing teams.  Anyone who watched the Lehigh game last year understands that a change was necessary as a backup QB marched down the field relentlessly on the hapless secondary.  With another talented recruiting class coming in and wise coaching adjustments, Reno has shown that he is developing as a head coach and is not content with a single win over Harvard under his belt.

I ATTENDED PRACTICE YESTERDAY A.M. I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE QBS PASSING . THEIR PASSES WERE ON TARGET TO RECEIVERS. NICE CATCHES WERE MADE BY C. WILLIAMS-LOPEZ, BO HINES ( A TOUCHDOWN ), AND ALEX YOUNG ( WHO ALSO RETURNED PUNTS , AND PLAYED AS A RUNNING BACK ) .
THE DEFENSE MADE MANY STOPS. THE LINEMEN WERE : JOHN HERUBIN , SPENCER MATTHAEI , JULIAN FRASER, JOSHUA KEEELER, MATTHEW McCABE , AND DANIEL JAMES.
LBS PLAYED TOUGH. THEY INCLUDED RONNIE MEDER, JARRETT BALTER , MATTHEW OPLINGER , KEEFER JOHNSON, ET AL. DEF. ENDS WERE CHARLES CALLENDER AND DEVIN MOORE.
ALAN LAMAR RAN VERY WELL. HE EXHIBITED GOOD SPEED AND CUTTING ABILITY. HE RAN FOR A TD. ALSO, DESHAWN SALTER DISPLAYED SPEED. REES LeMAY PLAYED L. TACKLE. JOHN BEZNEY, ANDERS HUIZENGA, JACOB SCHMIDT, JEHO CHANG , AND JACOB VAN de GRIFT HAD REPS.

Which of the following are eligible for–and taking–5th year medical redshirts, and which are not?

DB – Oluokon
LB – Sykes, Kawawaki
QB – McManes
RB – Rich
WR – Rowlison, Gaines

I BELIEVE SYKES AND OLUOKON. COPACHE TYLER WAS MENTIONED AS RETURNING TO YALE. IT WAS STATED BY A FEW FOLKS WHILE I WAS AT THE SPRING GAME.

Coach Reno was in Houston this week, and I attended a dinner for him put on by local Yale FB alums. Coach said that Foye Oluokun will be back but play OLB. He also indicated that Copache will play this coming season.

Can somebody tell us how the spring “game” went? Who were the QBs, RBs, WRs? Did anybody get hurt? How were the DBs? I don’t care who won, with that screwy point system (frankly I hope they go to a straight game like the Big Ten does – it would be much more fun for the kids and more revealing for the coaches).

NICHOLAS CROWLE IS TAKING THE SEMESTER OFF. SOME INFO RE YALE SPRING GAME MAY BE FOUND AT THE YALE U. SPORTS ATHLETIC SITE UNDER THE HEADING OF FOOTBALL, A SHORT SYNOPSIS WAS PRFOVIDED BY STEVE CONN.
