Bulldogs Fall to Rams 37-44

What happened to Alan Lamar? Don’t tell me he is hurt after only one game! How are we going to keep recruiting these guys if they know they’re going to get hurt if they play for Yale?

This was a game Yale had every chance to win. The fumble at the Fordham 20 on the drive coming out of halftime and, of course, the INT returned for a TD were the killers. 37 points should always mean a win.

On the bright side the the offensive and defensive lines played well and the running attack has been outstanding.

We are seeing this team get better each week, but they have to somehow find a way to cover the long (+20 yard) passes which have been killing them for it seems like years.

I can’t remember a better loss of Yale football. Without the two turnovers Yale almost certainly would have won. That is quite an accomplishment against an excellent Fordham team.

I think a key learning from the defeat is the more Tre Moore runs the better. He is far more dangerous with his legs than with is arm, especially with depleted wide receiver and running back corps.

Yale is making vast strides on both sides of the ball each week. I’m optimistic they can now make a run at the Ivy League Championship. That’s not something I thought I’d ever be saying just two weeks ago, when I thought 1-9 would have been a much more likely scenario.

The Penn game is critical for the season. Hopefully they will get some key players back from injury for Friday’s game. Forecast is for rain which should benefit Yale.

Let it rain. Let it rain. Let the rain come down on me. Let it rain, rain, rain. Yale rain ponchos are only 5 dollars at the bookstore. I will have mine on.
