Yale games and highlights for those interested
Good to see lots of OL and DL, the “building blocks.” Lots of DB’s, too.
14 defense, 13 offense.
NJ with 4 recruits, PA, TX and IL with 3 each.
OL recruits have some height, seem a little light of weight in some cases, but the assumption here is that the strength&conditioning program will be able to pack on some muscle once they arrive.
I agree the Ol, Dl and DB’s seem to have been the recruitment focus this year. However, the new members of “the herd” (offensive line) are the cream of the crop of this class. particularly Xavier Avera, Jackson St Aubyn and Quinton Lewis who all had a plethora of FBS offers. Kevin Cassidy is rated the #2 OL in the state of Oregon. Lukas Witt, from Germany, may end up being the next international Yale player to excel at football following the likes of Dieter Eiselson and Adam Raine.
The defensive line (mad dogs) have standouts such as James Cave and Jaylin Tate who both had multiple FBS offers. Babawale Fadeyibi has tremendous growth potential as someone relatively new to the game but already a high achiever.
The defensive backs (bogey boys) are a string group as well. They should be led by Osize Daniyan who had some FBS offers as well as a couple of standouts from the keystone state Dylan Darville (also a great receiver) and Abu Kamala (who also is a great RB).
All in all a solid class from top to bottom.
As I see it, the recruits include 4 Texans and 3 Jersey boys, the difference between us being that Babawale Fadeyibi is from suburban Houston (Katy) but prepped at Blair Academy in NJ.
At the moment we have a “troop” of RBs, but… Also, what about a K/P or two?

We won the 4V on Friday and the 1V & 2V today. The 2V was the most the exciting race as we stuck to our plan, overtook H, and won. The 3V allowed H to take too big a lead which it held. The 1V just walked away from H and controlled the race.
Nolan Grooms and several members of the football team were in the audience. Grooms is delightful, but seeing him in civvies you can’t help but worry about his running. He’s anything but a brute.
Whatever happened to the 4 game home and away series with Mercer, home and away with Cal Poly. Same with Richmond.?

Gentlemen; Mr. Grooms physical stature is very similar to the ever evasive Mr. Dowling. Both of whom seem to have the ability not to take direct hits.
Old Blue is correct that Dowling was about the same size as Grooms in his playing days. The Ivy football brochure for 1968 lists Brian as 6 ft 2 in and 195 pounds, while Grooms appears on the current ale roster as the same height and 7 pounds lighter.
I think, however, their similar stature has to be viewed in the context of the size of the opposing players they faced. Grooms faces the prospect of being hit by much beefier guys than any BD faced. A quick check of the ’68 Ivy brochure shows no player at any of the 8 schools weighing over 245 (and that was a Cornell OT, John Sponheimer). The biggest player on Harvard’s famed “Boston Strangler” defense was Steve Zebal at 6 ft 1 in and 235 pounds. Yale’s biggest D-lineman, Fran “Ollie” Gallagher, weighed 225 on a 6 ft 3 in frame. Amazing what the passage of 55 years, intensive weight training, vitamin supplements and the like have done for the size of Ivy footballers.
