Gentlemen; My hats off to our Blue squad for continuing to fight after falling behind 21-0. I agree Mr.Grooms should be the signal caller next week.Hopefully, the genius at the helm of the offensive coordinator will put in some quicker patterns and play numbers 10,20, and 82 more at split end.

Yale defense was very good; A few plays from uconn changed the game against yale. One was the pass play down the middle no one near the kid.Shit happens tough break for yale. Before uconn scored on that play i said to a friend instead of going for the sidelines take a shot down the middle We all know what happen next touchdown uconn. On offense Cahill tried to mix it up tried some new plays misdirection and some wildcat and new schemes that worked some times . Still know push from the offense line but getting better, Uconn D was huge and quick even the DB were very good hard hitters . One last thing Griffin is not the answer at OB not much touch on the ball remember he as only played a few games at yale he not seasoned enough to be a starter . Im not trashing the kid but i thing Grooms gives us a better chance to win. Better get some freshman OB ready we may need them before the season is done.

With two spectacular runs in the second half Grooms showed he has the potential to be an exciting dual threat qb. He needs to play more games as the starter to improve his passing game. Even Kurt Rawlings needed a couple of games as starter in his freshman year before he hit full stride by winning the Harvard game. I was impressed with the way Grooms led Yale on its scoring drives and even the final drive that ended with a failed jump ball reception in the end zone. Hope Reno gives up on the qb rotation.

Agreed, Grooms should be the starter. I’ve been saying that since the day of game 1 against Holy Cross. However, Yale also has an issue at WR. Yes, UConn’s defensive backs were by far the best Yale has faced this year and they deserve credit for not given the Yale receivers any separation to catch the ball. Nevertheless this has been an issue all year. It improved after The Holy Cross game but today showed it has still not been fully remedied.. Likewise Yale’s offensive line has been unable to open up good run lanes all year. Grooms at QB will help to mitigate these offensive weaknesses but if Yale is to compete for an Ivy Championship by winning out the rest of the season they will need to fix their issues with the wide receivers and the offensive line.

Amen. Amen.
The defense has played hard and well.
The offense under O’Connor? Not so much.
Princeton, Brown and Harvard all can score.
Let’s start Grooms and maybe pick off Penn and Columbia.
Poor Dudek. No running game at all.
Do we have anyone else at running back?
Do we have any freshman at quarterback we might want to try?

On the positive side I would like to say I’m so happy that the Yale-Uconn rivalry was renewed today. I would love to see this game return as an annual occurrence. If not UConn then our other historic OOC rival Army should be on Yale’s future schedules. The 2014 Game against Army and today’s game against UConn shows Yale can compete well. at this level.

I just went back and watched it and it looks like Sandifer and a UConn player had a heated exchange but it wasn’t that big a deal. Just some left over adrenaline being burned off.

As good as the defense has been, there have been very few takeaways so far. I remember an INT stopping an early drive in the Cornell game, but can’t think of any others.

I’m sick and tired of Reno, proclaiming we didn’t complete our process. If we did , we would have had a different result. Tony, take ownership of your team and the outcome. Of it. You need to have Rouse back on defense, He would be much better utilized there. He’s not a deep threat , you have to give him a little space. He can get the yards.
Seems that you could ask Coach Spanos, for a clinic. For YOU and your coaches. Coach Cozza did that . He went to Texas to learn about the wishbone. YOU need to do the same. Stop being so PIG HEADED.!! Your not helping you’re team. Yale will not be running the table 5-0 please. Yale will be lucky if they go 2-3. Next man up , your a fraud.!!

Huskies escape the embarrassment of a winless season. Headlines from the New Haven Register. Thank You Tony Reno, for providing them this win.

Whatever improved status was attained by Yale when it beat FBS Army in 2014 was greatly diminished by losing to UConn, one of the lowest ranked FBS teams. Huskies might be motivated into keeping Yale on their schedule for the foreseeable future in order to have at least one team they can beat.

I don’t think everyone appreciates how good Rawlings, Shohfi and Klubnik were. Their replacements are not the same caliber. And how everyone forgets that we did win two Ivy titles 2017-2019 under Reno

We all appreciate how good they were.. We also appreciate how good the offensive lines were in 2017 and 2019. Especially when we see Dudek struggling to find running room.

I think for many of us, we came to know and love Yale football in the Cozza years of 1967-1981. Those were the years when Yale reloaded instead of rebuilding. Our expectations are high and should be..

I said last week that I thought Yale would be competitive in all their games. I still think that. Hopefully the offense will give the very good defense more help going forward. Cutting down on penalties wouldn’t hurt, either.

Your wrong, those players, were the cream of the crop. If you have been around long enough. Which obviously you haven’t been. Reno , gets the best talent. Unfortunately he doesn’t develop players. They sometimes stagnate. O’ Conner has lost his touch with this pandemic. Grooms , is the man to lead Yale . But Reno, is still trying to prove that he isn’t the best choice. Same as it was in 2016. When he stumbled across Rawlings , for the Columbia game. Yale won. That game.
Bosman, has to take a 1/4 step and has to complete his follow through. KEEP HIS HEAD DOWN. He will minimize his push on the ball. Get a volunteer to work with your kickers.? !!! I mean really , COME ON.!!

Just as Harvard surprised us in 2019 with Borguet (thankfully, Murphy didn’t give him the ball on what turned out to be the last play of the game), it can’t have escaped notice in Cambridge that our offense became unglued yesterday at the crowd “noise.” Expect and prepare for a din from the visitor’s side on 11/20.

A pair of truisms-Under the current staff we do not win without overwhelming talent (thank you class of 2020). Second, no, we are not yet ready for the Georgia bulldogs. Almost, but not quite.

A prediction-We defeat PA, but probably lose to B or C. Can there really be any doubt about the last two games?

A fashion tip-Coach, please lose that little legless table dangling rom your waist.

No sense in beating a dead horse, it’s just to darn bad. Good night . Shut the lights off.

Gentlemen; For the record Mr. Lespina went to University of Colorado to learn about the i bone. As for our current Blue Squad may I dare say with a little tweaking hear and there can turn the season around. The suggestion to put number 7 on defense is a good start coupled with number 12 doing some play action passes. Shaking up the offensive line is another suggestion although it looked like at end of the Husky contest there were three different interior lineman than at the start of the season.

If the line can’t open holes for the backs, try adding an extra blocker. As others have suggested better than I, put a blocking fullback in the backfield in whatever formation you like. Our receivers are not as adept at going open as was the case in the past. Having one less won’t make that much difference.

To yale fans if Cahill does read these posts he did a better job with the play calling against uconn different schemes and misdirection plays keep it up.Uconn defense was one or the best yale will see this year. They were big and quick every where. Some one said put Zion Dayne at fullback why not it may help the offense open some holes he can run try it.

Much as I’d like to see the UConn series renewed, I don’t see it happening due to NCAA bowl rules that give an FBS team credit for only one victory over a FCS team per year, and that team has to give athletic scholarships, which rules out an Ivy team..

. Checking UConn’s future FB schedules, I see the Huskies have already booked a single FCS opponent (CCSU twice and Sacred Heart andLafayette once each) for four of the next five years.

As I recall, it took several years of lobbying the NCAA and pressure from the Pentagon to get the NCAA to waive its rule that would not have given Army bowl credit in 2014 had theCadets whipped Yale.

My strong hunch is that UConn was willing to play Yale this year and give up on any bowl credit because the university realized a bowl bid this year was extremely unlikely in any event,, esp given UConn’s independent status.

I know that there are mixed opinions about the value of 247 ratings, but for anyone who cares, UCONN has totally out recruited Yale in terms of 3 and 2 star recruits and national ranking over the past 5 years. The reasons should be obvious, but maybe Yale’s holding their own against this program should be viewed as a positive.

How about a future season that featured an fcs round robbin:
Yale, Central Connecticut, and Sacred Heart
