22 Days Until Holy Cross

Full Schedule:

Holy Cross @ Yale – September 18th, 12:00 PM

Cornell @ Yale- September 25th, 12:00 PM

Yale @ Lehigh- October 2nd, 12:00 PM

Yale @ Dartmouth- October 9th, 1:30 PM

Yale @ UCONN- October 16th, 12:00 PM

Penn @ Yale- October 23rd, 12:00 PM

Columbia @ Yale- October 30th, 12:00 PM

Yale @ Brown- November 6th, 12:30 PM

Yale @ Princeton- November 13th, 1:00 PM

Harvard @ Yale- November 20th, 12:00 PM

It’s always fantastic to see six games in Connecticut on the schedule, albeit one will be at UCONN in East Hartford.  Given the strength of the out of conference opponents as well as the uncertainty of the competitiveness of our Ivy League foes, there really isn’t a game that can be highlighted as a “gimme game” this season.  The first three contests should provide us with great opportunities to improve before a brutal two week stretch at Dartmouth and at UCONN.  Penn and Columbia are certainly no slouches these days, however the tail end of the schedule at Brown, at Princeton and home versus Harvard will define the success of this Bulldog squad.  Brown’s QB Perry is poised to have a stellar year backed by an improved roster, Princeton has been voted as the favorite in preseason polls, and Harvard is once again stacked with talent and out to avenge their loss from 2019.

We look forward to seeing you at the Bowl in just over three weeks!  Go Bulldogs!

Yale’s outlook this year cannot be looked at with a lot of optimism. The schedule is tough as noted and the team is largely inexperienced. People are excited about the 2019 season, but this is an entirely different year, with a lot of substitutes from 2019 starting. For you people who think playing UConn is such a great idea, they start their season THIS weekend!! Let’s get realistic.

Both teams cancelled their 2020 season so they are even as far as playing experience for their 2020 and 2021 recruitment classes. At least UConn game is mid-season so Yale will have 4 games under their belt before they play the Huskies.. A fair indicator of how Yale will do should come from the result of UConn vs Holy Cross next Saturday. I think Yale will have the offensive talent to play at least a competitive first half.

Well Fresno , tuned the huskies. Let’s see how UConn fares against the Crusaders next Saturday.
This should be a lot more competitive than it was last Saturday. Expect more of the same from Perdue.
Can’t wait to see what that point spread will be.

Well this is why you play the game. Let’s see how UConn fares., this weekend.? All the best to the Huskies. They’re gonna need. It.

I’m tired of starting the season three weeks after everyone else. It’s past time for 11 games.

…or at the very least, 10 games with a bye week built in, in order to start a week earlier. With the Ivy presidents, baby steps are often required.

We had a chance to have a perfect season in 1968, 1974, 1976, 1979, 1981., 1999, 2007, 2017, and 2019.

The game we lost, or tied, was an Ivy League game each time so going back to 9 would not have made a difference.

Very close to a few of the guys on that 1974 team. I was in the end zone first row of the Harvard Collonade.
Tommy Doyle, hits Tyrell Hennings right in the chest. For a apparent TD. Tyrell dropped it.
It would have been the game winner. Instead I’m sure it still torments Hennings along with the others.

Last year I queried President Salovey about the possibility of expanding the schedule by at least a game. He was diplomatic but clear: ain’t happening.

Yale starting offense OB GRIFFEN WR CARRINGTON AND SANDIFER RB DUDEK OR JOSH EBOBOKO TE D MAJOR ROMAN OFFENSR LINE LT GARGIULO LG TWYFORD CJOSH DE ST JEAN RG FRESHMAN CONNOR HAVERSON RT WARFEILD HI GUYS EVERYONE OK WHERE GETTING CLOSE ANYONE ELSE WHAT TO TAKE A CRACK AT THE STARTING OFFENSE PLEASE DO LETS HAVE SOME FUN. GO BLUE WALT.

I wonder if there will be temporary lighting brought in for the Harvard game. Just in case.

Gentlemen; The Huskies are getting absolutely clobbered in their first game by the Bulldogs.

Hey UConn , I’m glad I took The Bulldogs and the points.
On the other hand UConn, did a better job than I thought they would.!!

I HAD SHORT CONVERSATION TODAY WITH A KNOWLEGEABLE PERSON RE THE CURRENT YALE FOOTBALL TEAM .HE SAID THAT THE DEFENSE LOOKED VERY SOLID. THE OFFENSE HAD MANY SKILLED PLAYERS. HOWEVER, HE EXPRESSED CONCERN RE THE OFFENSIVE LINE. HE MENTIONED THAT SOME OF PLAYERS HAD TO GET TOUGHER. HE DID NOT REVEAL ANY NAMES NOR DID I ASK WHOM HE WAS REFERRING TO. ALSO, HE ADDED THAT PRACTICES ARE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.

Is there going to be a scrimmage next Saturday against Brown like the last several years?

YALE COMMIT :

MELIK WILLIAMS , LB 6 ‘ 2 ” , 205 LBS. , 4.55 40 YD DASH . LINCOLN H.S.,
YPSILANTI , MI. OFFERED BY AIR FORCE ACA.

Tipton is definitely going to be one of the three WR’s. I’ll predict he’ll join Sandifer and Carrington.

The 2nd RB after Dudek should be the highly touted Josh McKenzie. Otherwise he’s either not healthy or a major disappointment.

Let’s see Walt,
Nolan Grooms , just because of mobility
Dudek, Alston , McKenzie
Gargiulo , St Jean, Twyford, Schuller, Warfield Howland Hopefully stay injury free Roman . Tipton , Sandifer, Carrington Brunelle.
Who will be the Center.?

JH, Looks like good predictions on the OL. Yale has plenty of talent at the skill positions. Yale’s ultimate success rests on the offensive line. Even though it’s just one returning starter (Warfield), it looks like it’s a case of a reload not a rebuild. Coach Netter should be able to mold them into a cohesive unit by week 1.

Cupboards not. Bare at all, Warfield, wasn’t the only player on that O line Gargiulo was a regular and St Jean came in later and did a fantastic job.

I stand corrected. Upon reviewing the 2019 box scores I see Gargiulo actually started all 10 games. I was relying on his bio, which has not been updated past 2018. I now feel even better about the offensive line. Thanks JH.

ST JEAN AT CENTER BIG BODY TOUGH KID ALSO FRESHMAN LINEMAN WILL PLAY THIS YEAR TO MUCH TALENT TO WASTE. GO BLUE WALT

Defense Nickerson, Nauert, Sampleton, Oso
Awordian, Dean, Pope Henson,Ellis Hickey , Thomas
DL relief Puletasi, Ikenna
Ellis , Dushawnte in relief

Think Goodyear is a starter at DT. Also I think Benn at Safety and Thomas at LB. instead of Pope.

Rouse playing slot, Oconner and Grooms will both play with Grooms dual threat, look for a surprise at slot with proven 1st year, D will be solid.

Yes, I think we’re all good except Oline. That’s just a matter of time . To what development takes place.
Yale , has all the pieces. Just who steps it up.
It’s gonna be a very exciting and interesting season. Every game will be a contentious fight.

Remember, Pope was the starter until he got hurt for the year, Thomas replaced him. Goodyear, didn’t start but he saw a lot of playing time.
Of Course Rouse just forgot to put the heart in there.

Gargiulo is a beast. Started and excelled in 2019. I heard he was slated to start as a freshman in 2018 but something went awry. Injury?
Our season will depend on the OLs and the DBs.

That’s fabulous..!!, it’s kinda leaves and empty feeling.inside ya. I know something you don’t.!! Ha ha ha ha ha.
Come on Man.!!! Really.!!

Here’s and idea , why not charge a nominal fee to attend practices and scrimmages .? You can not video or disseminate on goings of said practice or scrimmages.
What say you Coach Tony Reno, I don’t know of any football program doing such a thing. You get your privacy and the fans get to see the team. ?

I got my ESPN+ $74 .34 for the year , all set fro Football , Basketball, Ice Hockey and Lacrosse.

I noticed no Yale men’s soccer or basketball games are listed as being re,Ives in ESPN plus. I hope this changes.

They do Fairfield on Friday and UMass Lowell a week from Saturday. They haven’t revealed the football games yet either.

But espn plus is not showing on the yale’s published basketball and soccer schedules, like it us on their football schedule.

Shoot who ever is taking care of the info for Yale , is snoozing on the job. They don’t even have the 2019 season stats.
I’m going on what I see on ESPN + period.!!

ESPN + I see soccer games scheduled. Don’t see any football as of yet. I would say a week before the 1st game. Basketball I wouldn’t expect to see anything. Until at least 2 weeks before the 1st game.

The New Haven Register, finally had and article in today’s Ctview. Probably for tomorrow.
Funny the last paragraph, he says you really miss the noise. Fans in the stands. Tony, open it up to general public. Not just the parents. ?!!!

UConn is terrible, but will probably be better by mid October.

HC will be tough. This may be the first time that HC having two games before we play them may really hurt.

Beating UConn will still not be easy for Yale. Beating HC could be even tougher. They have some terrific athletes and #27 is a real hard nosed tackler. Chesney did an excellent job preparing his team for this game.

In other news Alan Lamar, had a good debut yesterday with Arkansas State. Being the featured RB. 18 carries for 67 yds and a rushing TD . 2 receptions. Good Luck to him and Coach Lett.

I hope Alan has a great year. I will always wonder how good Yale’s running game could have been with Dudek and Lamar both completely healthy.

RAY:
Have you any news about who distinguished or failed to distinguish himself in the Brown scrimmage?
Cheers,
Let V

O CONNOR AND GROOMS PLAYED WELL WITH 2 TD PASSES EACH. GROMMS RAN WELL, TOO. NATE DENNY SHOWED SOME POWER RUNNING. JACOB BIGGS HAD SOME GOOD MOVES RUNNING OUT PATTERNS AND ALSO CAUGHT A TD PASS.. THE DBS HIT AND TACKLED WELL. THE O LINE WAS VERY BIG. THE FIELD GOAL KICKER NEEDS BETTER ACCURACY.

Many thanks, RAY.
Did McKenzie get any carries at RB?
Terrific news about the DBs playing well against a great QB.
Was the OL aggressive in addition to being big?
Cheers,
L et V

The football website refers to International Stream presented by Stretch for several games. What’s that service? TV or computer?
