Spring Notes

There has not been an abundance of news trickling out of the football offices of Ray Tompkins House recently, but thankfully YDN’s Jared Fel has continued producing exceptional content on the team.  It sounds as though spring ball was very productive with players finally able to utilize helmets and footballs in practice as the school entered Phase II of the protocols.  With over 60% of the squad taking the fall semester off, it is great news that the players are finally getting in much needed work to prepare for a tough schedule in 2021.  Unfortunately, the practices were closed to the public, so we are devoid of any thoughtful analysis of the current level of play.

The Falcons selected the talented tight end Kyle Pitts in the 1st Round of the NFL Draft which could make life harder on former Yalie, Jaeden Graham, although he’s played well enough to keep his roster spot or make another NFL squad.  Look for teammate Foye Oluokun to continue improving for the Falcons and gaining notoriety around the league in the upcoming season.

Coach Reno brought in another talented recruiting class ranked 3rd in the Ivy League according to 247 Sports with four 3-Star players.  Harvard and Princeton led the pack with five 3-Star players each.  Once the recruits are officially named by Yale, we will post our initial impressions based on their game films and statistics.

Keep an eye out for our positional breakdowns coming in the next few weeks.

Will Yale have a Blue and White scrimmage this year. Will the FANS be able to see this.?

Thanks for posting SOE. Somewhere I have this game on VHS tape. It was also the last time I was in Harvard Stadium.

Is Nick Gargiulo (#66), starting LT, still on the team? He’s not listed on the current, out of date roster that still lists Lamar. Gargiulo would be a huge loss.

Why is our football site so out to lunch? Particularly with all the new athletic department hires. The roster’s inaccurate, and the schedule is last year’s but it does correctly note that the games have been cancelled. Please, guys.
Wouldn’t it be terrible if our rivals’ alums were reading it and making fun of us.

An educated guess is that the Yale-Mercer game was originally scheduled for 10/16. When Yale picked up Uconn that date they would have needed to move Mercer to 10/2, but they are scheduled to play in conference foe Samford that day. Hopefully the Mercer game At Georgia will be rescheduled in the years ahead.

The Yale 2021 schedule posted to AnyGivenSaturday in 2019 shows the Mercer game as scheduled for Oct 2

Interesting. Then I guess it’s Mercer which backed out, not Yale. FBS schedules now shows Mercer playing Samford on 10/2.

I can’t confirm this. I was looking forward to going to Macon, Ga. Go to the Allman Brothers museum..
We shall see.

Thank You SOE, hopefully the Lehigh game would be a Yale home game. It would be about 3 hours to get to Bethelhem , Pa.

I went to the Yale -Lehigh game at Lehigh in 2017 and I’m glad I made the trip. It’s a nice stadium in a beautiful setting.

Hope one of those you get to will be Yale-Uconn. Yale needs to travel well for that game if we want to see Uconn continue to be schedule Yale.

Right now I’m definitely going to the Uconn game. Leaning towards attending Lehigh and Princeton. Maybe will attend Brown. Probably will watch Dartmouth game on TV.

Just my two cents – Dartmouth is a simple car ride and a beautiful place to visit in the Fall. Straight shot up 91. Some little gems of places to stop and get something to eat along the way, Foliage is stunning. Make that Dartmouth Trip!!

I made the trip to Dartmouth in 2015 and 2017. Both games were extremely painful to watch for different reasons. To put it another way, I’m very glad I didn’t make the trip again in 2019. Hopefully 2021 will be different.

Also Hanover is around a 4 hour drive for me. But I agree it’s a scenic drive.

Does anyone have any definitive word on anyone who will be back this fall, and does anyone have any definitive word on when this word might be shared with any of us?
Thank you.

But is it possible for the ones , who are privileged to attend the practices. Maybe give some insight. Maybe update the roster , schedule to reflect some life for your small fan base.
Just to let you know, THIS IS NOT HOW TO BUILD A FAN BASE.!!! NOT EVEN CLOSE. Your alienation tactics will eventually backfire on your clandestine attitude. To the people of the community.
People in New Haven , Fairfield, Middlesex, Counties will not be bothered. Only game that they may come out for is Harvard. All the rest you’ll be lucky to have 3,000 people. But maybe that’s what you want. Personally I feel you could do so much better. Start with inclusiveness, team updates. IE who is coming back, how they look, what has a year without football has done. ? Sincerely not your average Yale fan

A LITTLE BIRDIE TOLD ME THIS MORNING THAT ZANE DUDAK IS RETUNING THIS FALL FOR HIS SENIOR SEASON.

Thank you, Ray. Do you have any idea when this birdie will formally introduce in the incoming freshpersons and tell us who else will be returning?

SUPPOSEDY, THE LIST OF 2025 PLAYERS WAS RECENTLY SENT TO THE YALE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION. MAYBE THEY ARE HOLDING IT HOSTAGE.

Here’s subject that hasn’t been broached.. ? What about the new buildings on Central Ave.? What are they offices for the coaches.? Meeting rooms for the players.? Cox Cage looks fantastic.!!!
No news my ass.!! Ridiculous.!!!
